All the best Gav, sorry to hear of your misfortune, hoping for a quick recovery to see the helmet back on the melon asap.

All the best for the recovery, never a good thing to read about and recovery will have you thinking about next time on the track.

Cheers mate, and don't stay away with the banter for too long.

Even though we “sign the form”, I guess we didn’t think anything like this would happen at a motorkhana event, we were certainly caught off guard in that respect.

Yesterday Gav said he loves attending these events because the Cobra Club members are some of his best friends.
He was very appreciative for all the help that he and his dad Frank had received. The sheer number of people willing to help was overwhelming – thanks to all.
Frank and the car are now home - Frank said the car traveled well.

Gav , here's hoping you get out of hospital tomorrow as planned - take care mate.

Hi everyone.
I'm in the royal Melbourne hospital getting put back together.
I was very lucky yesterday and if it wasn't for a number of factors the outcome could have been very different.
I have sustained skull fractures lost 5 teeth and have a bruised lung but are otherwise fine.
I am retiring from competing, but will still be coming along to hang crap on everyone.
Getting back on the track would be awesome but it wouldn't be fair on the ones I love.

Thanks again for everyone's help, you know who you are and I am proud to call you all my mates.

Glad your on the mend buddy. Felt sick when I heard your news yesterday

Until you get the teeth fixed, I'll enjoy this brief period of finally being better looking than you.

Good to hear Gav.

It was great seeing everyone pitching in with your car Sunday, and helping get everything back home, etc. As a relative newcomer I am impressed; it is a great community.

Get well soon Gav and look forward to seeing you around the tracks still!

I'm so sorry to hear of your misfortune Gav. However it's great to know that you are not too badly hurt (all things considered). Wishing you a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Cheers,
Sime

G'day Gav,

So glad to hear that you'll be alright. I have to say after witnessing your accident I don't blame you for giving it up. It has definitely put doubt in my own mind whether I will return to the track in my own Cobra (in its current safety 'or lack of' guise anyway).

All the best with your road to recovery. Stiffy and I will send some pics from LeMans Classic.

Cheers
Tony

Hey Gav, sent you an SMS yesterday, maybe you no longer have that number. I read the posts yesterday and was shocked! Sorry to hear about the mishap, it can happen to anyone, even the best! 😜 Mate, glad to hear you are ok and I'm sending you my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Stef

I presume you are out of the woods now GAV and healing back to full health, if you are up to it can you enligthen us as to what went wrong and how much damage did your car suffer from the accident, if only you are up to it in your own good time, we all understand.

He's actually been approached by the ABC about staring in a mini series chronicling the life of Mark (Chopper) Reid. They reckon they'll have to do prosthetic ears for him but the rest is all good.

I had a practice with a sharply pen to make me some tats last night but I'm not happy with the outcome.
Eric Bana will just have to do it again.

In all seriousness though everything is going well, I'm back at work and all is good.
Not sure ATM what is going to happen with the chariot, but I've got plenty of time to work that out. You might have the drags all to yourself Tommy!!!
