That was basically the problem Garret had. at 1200 RPM with the blower it's starting to make boost and a bunch of torque.

Cheers

My psi conversion loom for manual trans includes brake sensor but not clutch (or maybe I just ran the clutch to earth). The brake switch for Ecu is normally open. I just checked the psi manual and it says it's used by the drive by wire system. It says failure to wire correctly could result in the accelerator not working.

Regarding the speedo, do you maybe need a pull up resistor on the circuit?

Interesting Liam. I've added in the brake inputs tonight as I figured it couldn't hurt. Curious to see if it makes a difference.

Some good news, fans are working perfectly after the latest tune. That big radiator of mine works well though. Hard time getting it up to temp so fan comes on (97)

This has little notes here and there that may be of assistance.

Fans and Tune are now sorted - The extra torque with that baby cam is scary. Whether it equates to better times remains to be seen. Tyres and brakes already close at limit so I suspect not.

Still need to get the ECU speedo signal working. That one has me stumped.

what's the speedo problem? The ECU puts out 5v square wave, is your speedo working at all?

Ben I think Andy's problem is getting his ECU to recognise the speedo signal from the transmission sensor etc.

Correct Greggy. No Speed in the ECU, but it is definitely getting the signal from the (stock) T56 vss as I piggy back off that to the speedo direct and it works no problem. There is no getting the reverse lockout working if I cant get a speed in the ecu - at the moment I have a little overide switch on the console. Not a biggy but one of the little niggles Id like to sort out eventually.

Andy, I know your vss signal works for your speedo, but when you tried hooking it up to the ECU, did you disconnect the speedo?

And did you try swapping the pins as Ben and others suggested?

Failing that, another option is to use the brake light - wire that direct to the lockout solenoid (via a relay) bypassing the ECU altogether. So you can only select reverse while your foot is in the brake.

But getting speed to the ECU is better. If you want to use things like Harry's Laptimer or Dashcommand, or just service computer read, off the OBD2 port you'll be missing heaps of info. Not to mention the diagnostics will be reduced - distance since last reset, fuel consumption stats, etc (I know, I know, who cares about fuel consumption - but you get what I mean...).

(By the way, the reason I suggest disconnecting the speedo is maybe it's drawing to much current or something. I had problems getting both my speedo AND the ECU to work off the 'box sensor; in the end I connected my speedo to a different sensor; an unused wheel abs speed sensor).

Yep tried swapping wires and unhooking speedo. Good info though Guy, the tuner has mentioned most commodores take the vss off the abs sensors now.

Correct, Phil in VIC also had to do that with his CR as his donor VE Transmission didn't have a speed sensor on it. Maybe give that a go. Easy to test as you just take it off one of the front wheels and jack it up and spin by hand it to see if the ECU registers a signal or not.

Guy, did your gearbox have a 2-wire (i.e. unpowered, inductive type) VSS? and likewise the wheel sensor?

Mike

ECU speed working!

After having another whinge at the tuner he sent me screen shots for the vss parameters he could change. What was pretty obvious to me, and not to him, was the little box that said "Transmission output shaft sensor" had a No in it. He had it all setup for ABS speed sensors (via a non existent BCM I think). Despite me telling him 1000 times what my setup was.

Anyway - now on to seeing if I can get rid of the reverse lockout switch.

Good that you found the "problem", why do you want to get rid of the reverse lockout?
