Good move Wazza, I too am unable to follow some of the comments, nothing wrong with being a middle man and making some change.
That's the way of the world.

Do you accept payments from insurance companies?

I suppose so....I couldn't see why not.

Although...I said to the guy at Speedy Glass here at the Gold Coast, that I wasn't sure about trying to sell these screens, because there'd be a lot of people like me , who can claim a "free windscreen " on their Insurance policies every year.

He said that when the time comes, to simply "on sell " your screen to a windscreen fitter at whatever price you thought was fair, and as long as it was reasonable, the insurance company would be o.k.
You'd end up with a quality screen fitted, and a few bucks mark up.
The fitter would just be invoicing for "glass plus fitting"
If the going price is around $500 for the glass from the other suppliers, I see what he meant.

I was hoping to sell most of these locally...much easier, and less cost for the buyer without shipping.
Had a pretty good result so far.
Cheers
Warren

Wazza... any idea if they will fit an earlier Backdraft... like #509?

I cracked mine in July... and have been waiting w/o results from Backdraft Racing ever since. I get the impression from talking to Brian at BDR... that the windscreens for BDR Cobras changed slightly over time. The number he asks me for from my windscreen is 43R-00290... and I noticed 43R-001489 on one of the pics you posted.

Any idea what those numbers represent?

Even if it fit, shipping would most likely be prohibitive

I'm sorry...I can't help you with that.
I'm a bit far away ( Australia)...to be able to get a screen to you.

Oh... I understand that... just exploring ALL options. That said... I'm more interested in knowing what those numbers represent... as part of an effort to find an alternative to using Backdraft Racing parts. Any idea what those numbers represent?

BDR, I think the 43R is not a PN but more of a spec since Toyota, Audi, MB, Mopar etc all use it.

But this site may help.

I am sure that you could make a windscreen fit in a small flat rate shipping box.

Some assembly may be required then by the receiver.

Thanks spdbrake! Good info there!

I have also been in touch w/ a couple of vendors offering MR-10 Lexan & PolyGlass windshields. I'm really curious about the PolyGlass... but reading a thread on this site... sounds like the install can be a little messy.

Going to be exploring further. Thanks again!

BDR is your frame Chromed Brass or Aluminum? Mine is the Chromed Brass. From what I've read the frames are dimensionaly different.
When mine cracks I was thinking I'd trace my old glass on poster board and mail it to the glass vendor first for fit check. Nothing worse than return freight on a heavy -oversized - wrong part.

spdbrake

Mine is an Aluminum frame. I've given thought to switching to chrome over brass... but I've read various pros & cons regarding same (just enough both ways to get me to an analysis paralysis stage) and... it's my understanding it's not a direct replacement... there is some fabrication involved... but WHAT kind of fabrication is unclear. Would you happen to be familiar with what needs to be done for a conversion?

I agree with your sentiments regarding shipping. The PolyGlass vendor provided me with a good "rule of thumb" for measuring the glass w/o removing it from the frame just yet. I haven't had a chance to try it... been busy w/ the season... but the windshield issue is always on my mind. If I measure & it's close... what you're suggesting will be my next step.

Hoping to have new glass by this Spring... and am about to give up on BDR Parts as my source for a windshield... and having to call them every 3 weeks for an update. I'm a little surprised they don't take down my info... heck... let me place the order and put money on the table... and when the windshield I need arrives... send it out to me. I suggested that once... and the response was... "It would be better if you just called us back every 3 weeks". Initially... I was surprised that would be their customer service approach... but now... 6 months later... I guess they knew there would be issues all along.
