I'm fitting an electric power steer pump on the coupe.
It's just a simpler way to go I think.

I'm using an MR2 spyder unit (2000 plus model) on my Cobra.
Has been on it for about 4years now and have had no problems other than shorting out the first one when trying to use spade connectors instead of factory plugs
Expensive lesson!!
No sign of cavitation with quick steering movements.
I found a short video of the setup, but the guy states in the video "you always get full pressure with no VSS hookup" which is incorrect.
I don't have VSS hooked up and it provides full assistance when using larger steering movements, then when not loaded the pump automatically drops pressure until it senses the need again.

I haven't looked into it further I'm not going that way but I hope this helps to further your search
The angles on that american installation are terrifying. 15 degrees is the preferred angle.

Laurie Bongalis in Blackburn Melbourne (RCM Cobras) has an electric power steering conversion using an adapted Honda rack.
