I have opted for some 6mm EVA high density foam which I sourced from Clark Rubber. I wanted to use something that will absorb the impact of the those larger sharp stones (you know the ones that flick up when you have brand new tyre tread). I think the 6mm EVA and Sikaflex should work great.
