Thanks. Just keep in mind that black is beautiful when clean, but a chore to keep it that way. Add the real fine scratches from wiping the dust off, and stone chips (I drive mine, it has over 12,500 miles on it), it's not going to stay perfect. I plan on having a paint correction and ceramic coating done in the spring before car show season.

Yeah, i know. I've owned 3 black cars. All were daily drivers. I enjoy washing (and polishing if needed) the car on a Saturday morning and going for a drive. Looking forward to being able to the same with something as exhilarating as a 6 litre Cobra!

Black cobras
For my build, I intended to paint our Hurricane 427 Cobra 1966 Ford Candy Apple Red, but I simply ran out of money. Eventually it will get painted.
But the black gelcoat and the minimal mold lines as delivered from Hurricane Motorsports make the car so nice looking we just kept it black, polished it and slapped on some race decals. I dont worry about chips, scratches, road rash, I just drive the heck out of it! The black is kind of growing on us now - we've never known her any other way...

Maybe I need to start a new thread. But I wonder how many people really drive their Cobras and don't worry about chips and scratches. What is the reason some of us are terrified or worried about every scratch and don't drive it. Is it resale value? Knowing how much to repair or respray the damage etc etc. Is it a respect for the car? I guess bwcobra15 with a Gel coat you have not had to pay for paint so it doesn't matter as much. JD

Jaydee, having owned cars I have fully rebuilt and others that I have done partial restorations or conversions on, from my experience, the more time I have invested in the build, the more worried I am about anything happening to it. I've had cars that I have bought already finished- not so worried about them. The cars I have hundreds of hours invested in - extremely worried that some idiot is either going to steal it, scratch it, T-bone it... you get my drift. As far as stone chips or wear and tear, I think you should be proud of them. It shows that you actually use and enjoy your car. Wear them like a badge of honour.
