My top is good for about 40-45mph unless I have the side curtains on. Then I can safely run 70-80mph.

If you are just looking to keep the sun off, why not go for a Bimini top. I have done 80mph and it doesn't move.

I’ve been planning to stabilize my soft top for higher speeds without side curtains. The shop has some plans already. This was after we took a few quick jaunts above the top's typical speed rating to see the extent and location of forces, flutter and windshield movement. I’ll keep you updated on that future solution once completed.

I also found a nice looking solution I’ll share with my shop from fellow EM owner Mike I, from the following 2016 CC post on the topic. He included some pictures there and it looks and sounds like an effective/elegant solution. We’ll factor that into our planning. There were also some other effective sounding solutions in that thread.

Here’s the link, see Mike I’s post #17 with photos and post #20.

soft top flutter

Here’s the text only from Mike I for those who don’t want to follow no stinkin’ link: ☺ (I bolded my favorite comment)

From Post 17 (with the pictures):
“My solution to the flutter and windshield flex issue was to fabricate a couple of aluminum tubes and a couple of aluminum brackets (see pictures). The tubes attach to the top frame at the pivot joints with simple wing nuts. The brackets attach to the header bow on either side and remain bolted in place. The tubes are removable and get installed last after the top is in place. Installation is simple, just slide them through a sleeve sewed to inside of each window opening, slide tube over nylon spacer fixed to bracket, and attach the back end of the flattened tube end with the wing nut. With this setup, I can drive at any speed with no flutter and no screen flex.... and no side curtains... ”

From Post 20:
“Thanks, pretty easy to duplicate, just takes a little time and patience. Once installed, the tubes are all but invisible from view and they really stabilize everything. I've had it over 100 with no issue.”

Brent

What are the options for a Bimini top and where can I find them?

I have cruised for hours at 70-80 with top on my ERA. Side windows in; of course. Several Hot Rod Power Tours in the rain.

Robbins makes tops for original Cobras but each still has to be fitted to the individual car due to bow and stud location variations. You could inquire if they have other patterns. A boat shop may be able to make a custom top for you.
