Remote oil filter
Go to Amsoil.com
Here's the link to bypass filter installation with photos.
http://www.amsoil.com/products/bf.html
You can get a bypass filter combined with a full-flow filter and the hardware to install it from them.
There are lots of opinions about what oil to use, so I won't go into that but the Amsoil filters are high quality, as is the remote setup they sell.

Easy out
I think its far easier to get at with remotes
Chris the remote is the way to go, I think as it allows you the option of running a traditional setup for oil coolers at the front.
I used the remote myself and will update the oil lines to the braided that I have had stored.
Cheers
Bernie

The standard filter for some 302's is the FL-1 but it's too long for my Aurora Cobra. Used NAPA 1068.

Chris
Myself and AC514 have a ford motorsport filter adapter which turns the filter 90 degrees to the eng block, we also had the same problem as yourself . Im sure Gino purchased it from ford racing performance parts distributor,RACEPARTS AUSTRALIA in queensland ph 07 3807 6870.
If it doesn,t rain i will bring the car to the mercat thursday
It fits as easily as an oil filter.
