Default Roll bar set up

Hi All,

I've been messing about with my roll bar setup lately. It a job I've been meaning to finish for a while and since the painter wants to start soon I thought I'd better get it done and get all the holes cut.

It made from 60mm OD aluminium tube with a heavy 5mm wall. The mounts in the chassis were made for 2" OD tube so I had to machine up some stepped down sections for the ends to make it fit nicely.

The 60mm OD tube looks a bit chunkier than the normal 1.5' or 2" bar but it's quite subtle and looks good in my opinion.

I also modified the mounting bracket to make it stronger since I was worried that it might deflect or collapse in the case of a rollover. I added a shear plate accross the back of it to triangulate the whole thing.

What I've got to do now is make up the mount on the boot floor for the 3rd leg. I've got to also add a coresponding bracket off the chassis underneath to sandwich it to the fiberglass.

Once the last bracket is done I'll get the back brace Tig welded on. The step down sections on the ends will be plug welded and I'll also drill and tap the sleeve on the brace and retain it with some countersunk stainless cap screws.

The aluminium tube polishes up nicely and should come up like chrome with a bit of work.

Here's a few pics.
