Default Vainty/protection

HI Cameron and Craig,

I agree that filters should be used.

An idea I have is to create an air box that attaches to the underside of the bonnet. You could make it big enough and use filters all arround the edges. The underside of the air box would have a foam/rubber pad, so that when the bonnet is closed the air box seals to the stacks.
This way you can have the wow factor with the bonnet open, but the protection of the air box and filters when it is closed.

I would have to solid mount the engine, or modify the engine mounts by drilling and bolting thru to restrict movement.

I have plenty of roon between top of stacks and bonnet, I have a pic in my gallery. It also solves the problem of the IAT sensor, I was just about to weld in a bung to fit this in one of the stacks but could have this fitted into the airbox.

The only problem that may arrise is that the "tune" may alter with the bonnet open.

Craig would love to see a pic of your engine with the socks.

Phil

Phil,

I have seen that setup on big block Robnell's. They also pipe in cold air to the box.

There was something very similar to this on Ebay a couple months ago. I was real interested in it except for the fact that it wouldn't look right attached to the hood of my car. I do have access to a cnc set up & when I get time for such a project a may reconsider & try to design something...orrr, maybe not
