 Phil you are the man
thanks heaps for organising this i'll give michael a ring tommorow and order one of him this is the last major part i need before i can take it to get engineered can't wait had a few test drives in the driveway and it feeels awesome need a proper alignment before i take it on the road although it looks a bit dorky at the moment with the increased ride height so the rego kit exhaust meets ground clearance specs
one thing i have noticed dont know if you guys have experienced the same thing but it appears that i have more rear camber adjustment on the right than i do on the left i cheked this with a camber caster gauge but i did not have it on turntables although i did roll it back and forth to release any tension in the tyres and bushes would be intrested in your thoughts or you guys experienced any issues regarding wheel alignment
cheers

Out of wack!!
HI Jess,
My car is the same, the rear camber adjuster is in a totally different position on opposite sides.
I have had no problem with wheel alignment as I think it is still in the required range.

Jess, Yeah what Phil M said.
The single biggest change ( apart from the edit) to my Cobra was getting the wheel alignment right. It went from" what have I done' to "this is great".
There is still work to be done as the rear still has a lot of bump steer built in.
Have you dropped the steering rack? I put 20 mm spacers between the rack and mounting points and this definitely gets rid of droop steer.
I'll get the front bar off tonight and get it to Pedders tomorrow.
Regards,
Phil

Set Up
Phil Is right, the absolute best performance upgrade is a wheel alignment.
Just find the right workshop. You need to find someone who knows about supension and not just an operator.
The last wheel alignment took 4 hours, but with alot of conversation mixed in that.
Phil gave me some rough numbers to work to, and they get the car close.
Rear bump steer seems excessive, not sure how to fix it, but have spendt many hours looking at it.
Thanks
Phil

Front v Rear or Both??
I am expecting my car back tomorrow with both front and rear sway bars fitted. I note from comments that some have only front fitted etc. Would welcome any comments on the pros and cons of sway bars alround based on driving experience. Considering modern cars have both F&R fitted, then I would have thought that this is the optimum set up approach ??
Thanks
Charlieh

Hi Phil
spoke to michael yesterday and put a tentative order in if all goes well we should get them by next week
since i'm getting mine engineered on the 3rd and just in case they dont arrive in time is it crucial to have it fitted or will it get by without one
cheers

Jess,
You dont need sway bar for rego. Its a suspension tuning tool rather than an engineering requirement. Hope Engineering goes well.

Thanks for the e-mail Phil, I too thought I had confirmed on here but I have now spoken to pedders and placed my order.
I too would be keen on a rear bar when you get yours made.
My only question on the rear is I have noticed Ian has changed the mounting point at some stage.
Can you take pics of the chassis mounting points on your car so I can see if they are in the same place as mine.

Thank you also Phil!
I spoke to pedders this morning and Micheal is going to ring me back monday.
I don't need a sway bar yet but this is just all a bit too convenient!!!!
Thanks again

Ian fitted a rear bar to mine (without asking for it) and it seems to be the standard ford one that came with the new diff.

Hi Phil
(Pneall)
would you know the distance between mounting eyes (left & right wishbone) as I am concerned with the differant wheel offset between my car and the newer version CR.
Thanks

Hi Craig, from what your saying it appears you have the earlier type rear sway bar mounting points (I was thinking of welding in some brackets to mount the Ford sway bar)
The sway bar mounts on my chassis are down below the front of the diff snout.

Craigs car is the generation just before ours. It has pretty much the same chassis but Ian moved the front suspension pickup points out about an inch on both sides on our kits. This was to reduce the scuff radius on the front wheels. If you look closely at the pics of craigs car you will se he has more dish on the froth wheels than the later cars.
Rear sway bar mounts are for the factory Ford Au rear bar. Dont make the mistake I did of buying an after market bar because they are a different shape and hit on the diff mounting. The only problem with the Ford bar location is that it's a bugger to get to.
I think Ians newer cars run rear sway bar mounts on the bottom of the chassis and run the bar under the lower control arms.
Cheers

As soon as I have finished playing with the Cobra over winter I'll get the rear bar sorted. On my CR the mounting tabs are on the centre chassis extension facing in. I think out may have been better.
Craig , I'll check dimension and let you know tomorrow.

It sounds like you have the same rear sway bar mounting points as I do Phil.
I did think about welding some tabs in place to mount the ford bar.

Craig,
Hope I have measured the right part.
The distance between the sway bar link points on the bottom wishbone is 1130 when in the fully droop position.
