Jess, Yeah what Phil M said.

The single biggest change ( apart from the edit) to my Cobra was getting the wheel alignment right. It went from" what have I done' to "this is great".

There is still work to be done as the rear still has a lot of bump steer built in.

Have you dropped the steering rack? I put 20 mm spacers between the rack and mounting points and this definitely gets rid of droop steer.

I'll get the front bar off tonight and get it to Pedders tomorrow.

Phil Is right, the absolute best performance upgrade is a wheel alignment.

Just find the right workshop. You need to find someone who knows about supension and not just an operator.

The last wheel alignment took 4 hours, but with alot of conversation mixed in that.

Phil gave me some rough numbers to work to, and they get the car close.

Rear bump steer seems excessive, not sure how to fix it, but have spendt many hours looking at it.

Excuse my ignorance fellas but whats rear bump steer feel & react like. Not sure if I can say there is anything I dislike about my rear (car) that is

Really experience quite a lot of understeer at Winton, more so after 3/4 laps when tyres stated to loose grip, help here would be apreciated

Leeroy,

On the track the rear bump steer dosent impact much (unless you run off the track) but on the road where there are lots of bumps its a feeling that the rear is moving about more than you would like.

For those that have a 300kw billy cart just jump up and down on the rear and watch the wheels change toe angle.

Apparently there is a guy in NZ with a CR that has worked it all out but I have no details. Mando may have designed his out too when he carried out major surgery to his CR to get the dished wheel look .

Understeer can be cured with more power to the rear wheels

Spoke to Michael at Pedders, he is going to do an initial run of 6 bars plus one for a pattern should there be any further interest.

Include me in with the bulk sway bar purchase. Sounds as if with all the knowledge here about bump steer and wheel alignments, I may just have to get the numbers from you guys, and along with a big hammer, the problem is sorted ...

spoke to michael at pedders today regarding the swaybar thanks again for organising this saves a lot of time and stuffing about
the local tire shop has been good enough to let me use their wheel aligner next week for a few hrs so can't wait to take it for a drive although with the increased ride heights and acute driveshaft angles i wont be expecting to much as long as it steers straight and feels confident enough to pass engineering i'l be happy for the time being
i was getting a bit concerned with the chassis being different from left to right being built on a jig i thought it would be fairly square
as yet phil i havent bothered to drop the steering rack im just trying to do what is required to get reg then i'll be pulling it apart to paint it and make some mods so il be tackling it then
regarding rear bump steer i think the rear link may need to be dropped as is done with the steering rack
there is a way to check this it will take some time to do but the equipment needed is minimal 3 dial gauges a flat surface to mount on the wheel with hot glue comes of easy a big round mirror or glass is good a solid base to mount the dial gauges on a jack to cycle the suspension up and down with this you can check exactly how much toe and camber change there is same again will be doing this once its registered
