CR alternator bracket

Does anyone have a template for mounting a alternator to a LS1 in a CR kit.
Without having to notch the chassis.
Any help or pic's would be great.

paul, i made a kit a few years back for a LT1, it was a small nippondenso alternator around 70 amp, and we made it so it would fit up close to the engine, if you like you could try it out and see if it fits.

the only problem is that it a bit rusty, but nothing like a bit of a scrub won't fix

I still may have the template floating around somewhere for my setup but I used a Corvette motor which buts the 6pk belt in a different position than the Holden ls1

I machined a simple alumin. bracket which mounts on the opposite side to Craigs. Pic is a bit hard to follow but gives basic idea. The altenator form GM is probably way overkill for a cobra and I think many of the guys run smaller jap ones. Cos you will need to make bracket I would go for something smaller & cheaper as the GM ones XXXy.

that is one awesome looking motor you have there. Sure must have been some head scratching trying to make it all fit. Also how do I attach pictures as you have with your post ?

The minimalist approach



The alternator is an 80 Amp Delco unit sourced from a Japanese import wrecker ($55). Pulley is home made along with the mounting bracket.

The bonus was selling the original alternator for $150 which paid for all my materials.
