Ben,
I don't know about any specific widths for the pin stripes.
I just went out to the shed and measured mine and and the pin stripe is 3/8" (9mm) wide and 1/4" (6.5mm) away from the main stripe.
Cheers,
Bryan

A lot of guys up here run 1/4"(6mm) pin stripe with 1/4" gap. I could count a dozen or more Cobra's with pin stripes of those dimensions. Name a colour and I probably have a photo.

I've done a lot of investigation of Cobra stripe widths for the GT40.

Stripe dimensions of car below.

6mm [6mm gap] 170mm [50mm gap] 170mm [6mm gap] 6mm

Remember, the Cobra was a mongrel.! Whatever Carol Shelby and his mates chose on a particular day and a particular car, was RIGHT ! So if it looks right. it (without argument ) is right. Your car is "YOUR CAR"

I forgot to mention that the original reason for GT stripes were for the vehicle attitude orientation... The older long bonnet ferraries and the like needed some sort of reference as to which direction they were going !

It sounds like a good story !
