Talking Nitrous Oxide

I am considering putting a 100hp nitrous kit (dry) on my car. Anybody has any experience with Nitro for EFI motors? Will a dry setup work properly on my AUII XR8. Where is the best place to buy a kit from etc.

Some websites have a Nos kit for 5 Ltr EFI mustang which I assume would work fine but I'm worried there may be some difference in the AU computer setup that may bugger it up (I'm running original computers).

Yes I know it is illegal for street use. Just for the track you understand

Lightbulb becareful.

the only problem with nos is the solinoid duty cycle if you use it too much the solinoids over heat and fry the coil and they are expensive to replace . they are meant for a 14 second burst with a 15-30 minute cool down its mainly the gas valve which overheats as it has too control 800-900 psi.
I have had the problem where i was at a test&tune and not many people were there it was early but i did 3 back to back runs and could not put my hand on the gas valve it was so hot.
As far as dry v wet in smaller hp application not much differance dry is much easier to install .
Just be sure your fuel system is in top shape filters and pump. and follow the instuctions to the letter. and get you fuel mixtures verified on a dyno to be safe.
it sure is fun to let it rip but at $18-20 a kg you will find your self looking for extra cash to keep it full.
Regards oz.
You cant resist the urge to purge.

I've played with both wet and dry systems on various machines and as Ozvenom suggests, you MUST ensure your fuel system is up to the task!

On a standard engine, a dry system is fairly straight forward to install and can be safer than a full wet system. The safest aspect of a dry system is that the cars ECU is controlling the fuelling, and given that the MAF is working correctly, it will deliver the same amount of extra fuel every time. This is only true if the fuel system is completely up to the task. This means, injectors must be clean and flowing to their full potential, fuel pump must be 100%, and filters should be clean or new.
NOTE: If you have modified your engine, ie. cam and or head work, you should NOT use a dry system....

What is the coolest NOS powered machine in my opinion??? My friend in Darwin has a trayback Landcruiser (FJ45 I think), with an EFI 304 Holden motor, turbo 400 auto and 300 hp of nitrous. With a race weight of 2.16 tonnes (without driver), it runs 12.1 second quarters!!! I'll dig up a picture of it....

Thanks for the replies guys, that's good info.

The system I am considering is Nos part no: 05115. It does not actually use the MAF. Instead it utilises a vacume connection to the fuel pressure regulator. When the nitro is activated the fuel pressure increases.
