The Ballarat Holden mob have advertised LS2's on Ebay for as cheap as $7500 no accesories. As recently as a couple of weeks ago I think.
As a Package in a low km wreck (30k) Ive seen a LS2\T56 combo with all accesories for around the $10k mark. Reamined unsold at $10k if I remember correctly.
I have a auto search on Ebay for thsoe type of key words, and track the prices their pretty regularly. Its done nothing but convince me to hold off as long as I can, as the prices keep falling and falling. Also I think that as the LS1 has become the single most popular engine choice for current cobra builders, there would be a bit of bragging rights to say you have 6 litres...not just 5.7. 
I wonder if this lot of surplus motors is a result of the fall in holden sales - laying people off and all.
