I think he's said it three times...... so he is aware!
Anyway John Cini in the club is one sparky option who would have no probs. I think a freebie wireing might send you broke in beers though??!
John's contact mobile is 0418 389 466.
Suspect there will be a cost but up to you to negotiate.
Cheers

Hi Dean,
The steering column used in the RMC is from a 1985 GH Sigma, when I fitted my sidepipes we cut down the lower chassis rail to give enough clearance.[IMG] [/IMG]

I understand that you are willing to take a risk, but bear in mind the following things:
You will never be able to get insurance (because it's not engineered and legal). If you do keep your current policy and have an accident, you will be liable for any damage to any vehicles involved. If you lie to them and they find out, they will just cancel your policy.
As the registered owner, (and person making the modifications) you may be liable for any "personal damages" also.
Just be aware also, that the fines can be pretty hefty (if caught) for lack of pollution gear, ie. in the tens of thousands of dollars.
I don't mean to be "doomsayer" and realistically, the chances of any of these things happening is remote, but I feel I just have to point them out. Here is where I say, "you've been warned"....

Welcome acac
To the (thin) ranks of RMCers in Melbourne.
Mine's a 1990 chassis (single rail) like you have bent the loud pedal to create clearance for the big feet.
I quite like my VDO guages but if you're after an original looking set (backward winding speedo and all) then have a look at Finish Line - advertise on this site - have some reasonably priced packages.
A lament I have heard from a number of owners with a highly tuned SBF is that it would have been easier to just whack a supercharger on an EFI5.0 - and get the power and streetability. So your plan sounds fine to me. (and I'm looking at other engine options so...)
Get along to the club and have a look - first Thursday of every month - plenty more opinions there
LoBelly

thanks guys, if i have issues so be it, it didnt get to get the toys in my garage by not taking risks.
Although i still dont see the problem, i have a 91 build rmc, that was engineered with a carb 351, cant see a 93 efi302 being an issue, i wont be running cats etc and i will be using the existing carbon cannister etc, so for me the only issue is im lowering displacement and adding efi.
she is definately going to stay ford, u wont see me on the darkside, not that there is anything wrong with that, but just doesnt jell for me.
thanks for the contact stephen, not looking for a freebie, just looking for someone who knows what to do, i hate paying for someone to learn on my car.
Ross, i wish i had done the mod u did, but not so easy with the body on.
Lobelly, i just bought a full set of stewart warner muscle car series guages, they should do the job nicely.
Anyone have a trimmer they can recommend in melbourne.

Emmission control rules go off the latest date of either the car or engine.
The fine for not running cats (with an engine that is supposed to have them) is over $10k (for a workshop that fits a system with no cats the fine is over $50k). Trust me, a customer of mine got done a few years ago and apparently it's not a pleasant experience.
I do drive to the strip without cats, but they go back on when I get home (generally).
Cats are quite effective at muffling the higher pitch exhaust resonances too!!!

It depends what you are fined under. The police can issue you a defect but you can actually be prosecuted under the legislation. In NSW the POEO Clean Air regulation states:
23 Removal or adjustment of anti-pollution devices
(1) The owner of a motor vehicle who uses the motor vehicle, or causes or allows it to be used, must ensure that at the time of that use, any anti-pollution device that has been fitted to the motor vehicle has not been:
(a) removed, disconnected or impaired, or
(b) adjusted or modified and the adjustment or modification results in the emission of excessive air impurities by the motor vehicle.
Maximum penalty: 400 penalty units (in the case of a corporation) or 200 penalty units (in the case of an individual).
Penalty unit in NSW is $110 so hence fine can be $44,000 for corporation or $22,000 for an individual.
Similar will apply in each state.

G'day Dean,
I wonder if it's occurred to you that the authorities read these forums, the ones here in NSW certainly do and I know there are at least three of them are on Oz Clubbies which is a closed forum.
My humble advice would to be a bit more circumspect about talking openly on here about what non compliant mods you plan to make.

Dean
I know of a good trimmer down Mordialloc way near me. You can see his quality in my retrimmed MX5 seats. Well at least you can't tell he has retrimmed my shrunken seats.
Did ask earlier where you are based?
Cheers

Well Dean
Trimmer is Jeff Hoskin of Custom Trim (his business) at 76 White St Mordialloc cnr Manakato?, shed access in this side street. Contacts 9580 0481 or Mob 0417 587 153.
Can't recall how I was put onto him but he was recommended.
If you end up talking to him, or if you come down to see him, drive another 5 minutes down the road and you can have a look at my seats. Just a thought.
Cheers

Well, I decided to be nice to all Victorians and I also went and bought one of them recycled aluminium thingys just to shut em up.

You really are paranoid. But that is ok, "they" already know that too.
