I think a lesson learned from your situation Craig was the extent to which the department will stoop to identify non-complient cars.

In your case it was from displaying your car at a show not from a random roadside inspection. This implies that a qualified inspector of the department attended that show specifically to identify suspect cars.

Remember for public servants to work weekends means overtime/penalty rates etc., so it was a specific "operation" conducted by the department.

And it is only going to get worse.

Very true Les. That is of course assuming that my car wasn't compliant at the time it was sighted at the show. As the car was never inspected, it was never determined if the car was actually illegal in any way. It may live again someday

OOpsy Uncle Craig, you are correct....who said it was not compliant?.

I'm pretty sure that the car was "viewed" at a local show close to me. What probably compounded the issue was that his pipework was plasted over the local rag the week after the show.

All it could of taken was for an "official" to look at the pic and thereafter the letter appeared.

Personally, I didn't see an issue with the car from a legality point of view (it would have passed a coke can test, the tyres were good and the dials all worked
