Sure is cheap.

Seems a lot of LS1 owners are converting to the L76. They are even swopping out the reluctor wheel so they can use their earlier ECU's and using harness extensions etc.

I do believe there are advantages to using the later E38 processor. GM is using the E38 on all their latest engines (LS7 for instance), so there is the ability some time down the track to upgrading a L76 to something bigger without too much heartache.

The tuners are releasing new tools for this processor and it can now be run mafless with incredible improvements in power.

Not just commodores either

There are oil pressure issues in retrofitting using th older ecu, but is overcome by swapping the valley cover to a LS2 unit and pluging some return valve in the sump (I think thats right). It is to do with the DOD hardware, which is disabled, but the later ECU must do something in relation to the DOD to avoid this issue?

My understanding is, holden released about 300 of these surplus motors recently, thats why there is a flood of them at the moment. Its not so much abot trying to suck you in, as anyone with half a brain realises a crate motor is a pretty bare unit, just a lot out there right now so cheap. Up to a couple of months ago these were going for $6-6.5k, so that 1500 odd dollars you save goes a long way to getting it running. My big box arrived Thursday

Haha, no Les, joined the 6 litre club. I will be using a T56 - hopefully pick one up in the next week or 2 and its full steam ahead. Lots of things I can do now (exhaust etc) so will worry about getting it going when the time comes (Need to let you guys figure it all out first )

Cheers

OHhhhhh the 6ltr big box arrived.....silly me .

Not much to figure out mate.....specially if you got it from WASP, cuz they do all the vats stuff and a tune.

Sideshow has the looms sorted so hopefully just plug and play.

I'm using the TKO 600 cuz I already had it and besides, the T56 had no hope of fitting my tunnel without a heap of surgery.
