Hi Sideshow
With my meter Blue is Acc, Black/Yellow (1)+ Black/ White(2) are Ignition (2 Ignition Wires?), White(Grey)/ Red is Battery, Black/Red Start, plus 2 unknown little dia wires Black(L) + Red/Black (E) which use the same connector block.
Cheers
Bruce

u dont use the small wires
u can use both ign wires depends what the rest of the body wiring has
yr multimeter wont lie

i havnt done a laser ign recently so my memory is off

another thing some ign switches have very small writing on back of switch where the wires solder on telling what the wires do

eg batt acc ign sta

so maybe check it

if u use many relays then u can probably just use only one of the ign wires

ign switches are easy to figure out

its the headlights and wiipers that cause headaches

Thanks Sideshow
I got my 9 year old to read the writing and we are right for the symbols. It was the 2 small wires that bugged me they have symblos L AND E. I dont think need them.
The wipers and lights are next however.
Cheers
Bruce

Dragging this thread up from the dead... Bruce, did you find out the wiper and lights wiring?

The ignition wire info checks out on my Laser column except for start. Hope the barrel isn't buggered.

I'll update the wires for column switching as I go. Wipers seem to be earth switched going by the black feed into that bunch.

Power feed - red (acc power), white/red (ignition power). Got a feeling these could be wrong...

Lights/horn - red/black (headlights with acc power), white/green (park, head lights and hi beam with ignition power), green/black, red/white.

Signals - green/red (turn feed), green/white (right), green/black (left), green/yellow (haz feed), black/yellow (haz off), blue/yellow (haz on)

Wipers - black (ground?), blue/white (wiper lo), blue/red (wiper hi), blue/orange (washer), blue/black, blue.

Things I haven't yet worked out: wiper int, wiper momentary, horn. Also the headlight logic doesn't seem right.

Sambo

I've worked out plenty since my last post, but last night another mystery was solved that I thought I'd share - mainly for those with late 80s KC-KE Laser columns in Harrisons.

At the back of the ignition barrel you remove a philips head screw and the ignition switch comes out as a module with 5 wires attached. The 12v battery feed on mine had become quite brittle and the insulation was going brown. Doubledip suggested I check the resistance (very high) so I pulled the switch apart to see why. The brass points and contacts were severely pitted and corroded and I'm surprised anything worked at all.

Long story short, $50 bucks later and I'll have a new aftermarket ignition switch with loom and plug. This is a common problem so anyone looking for a replacement, contact Grant Walker Parts in Melbourne on 9762-7233. It's on eBay at the moment too.
