Well typically you don't use NOS 'out of the hole', traction is one problem and stress on the motor is another. Man I'd be scared to use it the whole way through the 1/4, isn't that pretty hard on the motor?
So given a choice, seems logical to use where you really need the power boost, in this case the last 1/8th. But I hear you Plums, it might not make a lot of difference in the last 1/8th.

The only way to go quick is to have the gas on from the start line. As you have rightly mentioned you will need good traction to achieve this. A lot of N2O systems are multiple stage. You might launch with 150 of gas then increase to 250 when you hit second gear.
I'm not personally a big fan of funny gas because when things go wrong, they go wrong big time. If anything goes wrong in the fuel circuit, your motor is lunched, same deal for detonation. I have seen lots of bent rods, holed pistons and hammered bearings....

Use protection.
Nos is not to be taken lightly.
I have a totally separate fuel system for my Nos set up. It has its own fuel tank, fuel pump and regulator. I also have a bottle warmer and purge valve.
The installation was much more than I expected in complexity and cost, but as I have been told ther is only one way to install NOS and that is to take no chances.
The engine is absoultely up to the task, however a lean run will destroy the engine.
The NOS is triggered by the throttle position, and at 90% the solenoids open. This will all be tested on a dyno before I will use it on the track

A quick squirt on the dyno is absolutely the best thing you can do. This way you can discover any lean conditions BEFORE you end up with lightweight pistons...
Bloody nice set-up there Phil, very nice indeed!!!

An engine built for gas will go all day long. Its the things like blocked nozzels and bad fuel pumps that cause the problems. Philm will certinly feel the difference when he turns on the gas.
How much gas are you going to run?

I used to use Loctite super stud lock on the rocker studs and also put a dob of "anti-tamper" paint on them facing the intake, (so I could see if they were moving).... I did this because a mate of mine with the same motor, (308) used to find loose rocker studs after every meeting.
After using the Loctite we never saw a loose rocker stud again....

Phil,
I've heard of having a few loose in the 'top paddock'... You may have just coined an new one along the lines of 'off yer rocker'
Glad to see there were no seeming long term effects.

I owe the gods something
It was the intake thankfully the exhaust may have been a litte different results.
It all should be ok. but if it isn't I will fix it up.
I will have it back together tonight as I am running in the Bracket attack at WSID tomorrow.
Phil
