History unknown
HI Alffie,
The diff was second hand when I bought it, had a limited slip center installed and all was good.
I then changed the ratio to 3.9 and that only lasted about 6 months of hard work (factoring in when it was on stands).
The 3.9 gear set were second hand so maybe they were not the best, the new set are a later model version and are better, not by much but better.
The Au will be ok if you are just putting arround even curcuit work will be ok, it is the hard launch on a drag strip that will test the strength.

Recoupe sale
The new diff should arrive soon and I will get it installed as soon as possible.
So... I have a recently rebuilt AU diff center and 2 sets of AU drive shafts/CVs.
The diff is an LSD with a brand new 3.9 gear set. The diff has had a few runs at the drags, nothing serious and the weekend at Shelby fest. I have also done about 400kms of street duty. Diff technics did the rebuild and that was just over $1000.00.
There are 2 sets of CVs one brand new never used and one pair that have done about 1500kms.
Let me know if anyone is interested.
Alffie, I will post pics when I get it installed.
I feel a 10 second pass is not to far away........
Phil

Knee bones connected to
Thge new diff has arrived, the back cover is not the one I thought came with the housing, but I think I will work with this..
See the size difference from the AU crown and pinion.
Now the work begins.

Changed my mind
I decided to get one of the "aftermarket" cradle type rear covers, much stronger than the original.
More material to work with as well.

I Dunno Phil, looks heavy. Have you had that back cover on the scales? I reckon it'll weigh more than Andrew's tank straps.
Cheers

Fully asseembled with the carrier it would come close to Andrews tank straps.
If you include the oil it is over.
I am hopeinh that the diff will actually work out lighter in the long run.

Getting there
HI Alffie,
I have machined the bosses for the rear plate and will bore the rear cover and weld them in on the week end.
I have done lots of measurements and I think everything is ok, may have to clearance a bit of the cradle that holds the diff.
The front mount is a bit simpler I may be able to use the existing mount.
The plan is to have the rear mount done then pull the old one out and work the front mount.
Then assemble the diff, order axles then we are away.

Too much to do
HI Alffie,
I have made a bit more progress but have put it off untill after the nationals.
It is a little bit bigger than I was hoping and I have a small mod to do to the chassis to get the center in.
Phil

Lame effort
HI Alffie,
I didn't really get a chance to get a good run at the nationals this year so The diff is in perfect condition.
The Au rear is not to bad arround the race track, it is at the drags where it shows its weekness.

Time Flies
HI Alffie,
I haven't yet and when I see the date we started sl of this it was a shock.
We have moved house since then and I don't have a work shop, and I have been instructed not to use the garage under the main roof as one.
My shed is almost finished and I will get stuck into it soon.
Phil
