Thumbs up My Dash is finished.

Originally, the dash was designed with the glove box lid fitting precisely into the glove box opening. When it was finished, I didn't like the look at all, especially the exposed hinges. I then spotted Phil Mizzi's car at my trimmers and really liked the look of his glove box lid fit and decided to adopt the same design. Unfortunately, it meant re-designing the hinge setup, making the lid larger to fit over the opening instead of inside it and stripping the leather and padding back from that side of the dash.

The first photo is the original design which was scrapped.

The next photo is the new design which I received back from the trimmers today and which will be going into the car. I'm pretty happy with the look.

Baz, that's amazing the difference. It certainly looks a lot better to me.

Really credit to you. You certainly have an eye for detail.

That looks great Baz, noticeable improvement!

What's that slot to the left of the toggle switches in the lower centre section? Hidden cassette deck?

No Sambo. It's a little gold plaque to remind me to respect my anticipated power to weight ratio.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Craig and Sambo.

Can't wait now to get the car finished. Am installing an XER273HR Hydraulic Roller Comp Cam with dual Crane Valve Springs into my LS2. That will be the only modification to the engine at this stage. Can anyone tell me what percentage increase in KW or BHP I can expect from the stock 307kw - 412bhp?

we finally gotcorrect engine loom from holden

i guess they didnt tell u how complicated the tip tronic set is

they sent u the l76 auto harness its usesles on an l98 titronic

the tip tronic works thru the bcm and then the bcm talks to the pim

then the pim talks to the engine ecu

the tip tornic gbox has the auto ecu inside of the gbox

we spoke to holden and u cannot buy a new bcm for the ve at this stage

and the bcm has very fancy plugs on it so i guess we willneed to buy the dash harness which has the bcm plugs
but i pressume it wont be available to buy yet either

another problem holden didnt tell u is that the ve will not start if the factory stereo is not there so the enigne ecu needs to have security disabled

but we are not sure what tune the guys at holden put in the ecu

like 99% of people out there guys at holden have no idea and did not do their research properly and atleast should have told u these things

but not to worry we are slowly getting thru this and asking alot of questions to our contacts at our holden shop and will be looking for a crashed ve to try get the parts that holden cant supply yet

another thing is the engine and auto has to be all plugged in together then a factory tune be flashed to both the auto and the engine ecu then the enine ecu needs to have the security turned off
so the ecu they supplied was a waste of time removing security cause it might have to be done again if we have to flash both ecus with a holden tune

anyway yr in better hands then those guys at holden down in melb where u got enigne

so hope to have all the stuff in next few months

so not to worry

Thanks Jim,

I was feeling really great this morning until I came in and opened this thread. It's a little like getting the really bad news from your Oncology Doctor.

Not to worry. I know you and Neil will sort it out, but your comment about having the 'all the stuff in the next few months' worries me a bit. I was hoping to be going through rego then.

Baz.

ok sorry i didnt know what time limt u were on

we can start sorting things out now

our main problem is holden just dont have parts available that we need

but will try them again and ask them to try harder and see which way to go

but if anyone knows of a written off ve comm them we might be abe to raid parts off it

this is not like yr ordinary l98 or l76 auto

which we have done alot off without any probs

anyway ill keep u posted

Bugga Baz - thats what happens when you break new ground with your engine\box combo. Sounds like your in good hands though.

Sidey - just curious, is the L76\L98 manual wiring the same? I know the tunes are different but not sure if they change any of the pin assignments.

Cheers

Mate,

I will leave that up to Jim to answer. He's the expert.

While you are there Jim, I spoke to Neil about the tiny hiccups which are occurring with my 6L80E transmission this morning and he is getting onto his contact at Holden in Ballarat.

yer l98 and l76 manual are siilar

only prob with bazs is that is it tip tronic

tiptronic signals from shifter goes to the bcm not to the engine ecu

tip trpnic auto gbox has the ecu inside the auto

its very complicated but not hard

we can buy a ve bcm and we can buy the harness that has the bcm plugs

only prob is tht its around 1100 bucks for for both so 550 each

i spoke to neil and i spoke ti guy at ballarat and said call me back

but the holden guys have not called me back so at moment i dont give a rats about ballarat i recon they should have had some info back to us in one day but i gues they dont care as much as others

anyway enough rubbishing them

i can get the parts needed

then we need reprogram the bcm

then we need to reprogram the engine and transmission ecu

my problem is i wont pay for the bcm and harness myself cause if all this doesnt work

i wont be stuck with the parts

i want ballarat to supply the parts and if they dont work then im not stuck with a 1100 buck bill

i am 99% sure this should all work by talking to people i know

all we can do is hopefully ballarat will getback to us

or u can say ok buy the bcm and tune and get all wiring done then we have to take car to a holden dealership to get a tune flashed in it

thats if the auto has no tune wch we dont know and will never know untill we power it all up

if its a new auto then i guess it has n tune

once its all powered up and std holden ve tiptronic tune we can then remove the vats security frm the engine ecu and it should start

but so far its looking like we should have no probs

hey baz got some good news

we found another way to do the tiptronic which we dont need a bcm or harness

but the ecu that holden supplied and tuned is probably useless

as it hasanaussie tune which is no good for what we want

so basically we will use our tune and our ecu so its linked to my laptop and we can flash the engine and auto ecu all at once using my software and will not need extra people to come and flash theecu

also holden have not rung me back so they can f off as far as i care

but least now we should get it all workin ok
