The manifold functions as part of the head...the push rods go through the intake. If you want to see an FE manifold and how it fits....search Russ' Butler on this forum. There you will see how the manifold and the head go together. Hope this helps

Scott,

Are you going to finally run a "real" motor in your car rather than that 800hp twin turbo little monster motor?

Thumbs up Thanks.

Thanks guys i just could not remember what the difference was i had been told in the past. No Kris it is a customers cobra i am working on and wanted to be sure when i need to get it going I get the right info .
It has to be run on lpg and i have been told that i would need a dual carb manifold for it as the standard gas carby will not flow enough to the bb.
see the thread on my new race car.
its very close and is pretty fast. for only 242 ci. and 1 hair dryer.

Yikes! How did I miss that thread? Looks nice and wicked. I dig the roll cage, it looks sorta like the car Holman Moody drug over to the Bahamas in '62, only yours is on steroids!

I hope everything is well with you and the family.

Yepper McDoodoo and Gary O........as Anthony said :

"Another great thread, but it needs to go another 15 pages before it can be ranked with some of the best."

So , keep em coming - my popcorn is popping .

Bill, SPF powered by a Briggs and Stratton (bored ) with an old Y Block 312 in my 57 Bird and modified K code in my 65 Mustang GT 350 fakey dooh ...oops,there is that MCDOOH reference again .and, none of those engines are a big deal . dang it . however, I once had a boat tied up to a buoy in the bay that was tethered to a FE - as one already said , a worthy anchor . LOL .

Please take it to another thread, or send PM's.

You guys are ruining the OP's thread about an engine question.

Keep the threads on topic please.

Do it for me, please.

Default Another Rod Thrower?

Accoriding to this McDoo character, if you bought one of them thar rod throwers, you might want to get a polished blow proof engine block along with your blowproof bellhousing. They sound dangerous to anyone standing within a 100 foot radius of one of them Idling F_orced E_xtraction units in the area. Scaree.

MEATMASTER ...for Vice President! and why not, I'm hot too?

A few points...

#1 - If you can't stay reasonably on topic, here or anywhere...just don't post.

#2 - There is an unwritten, but widely understood rule about respecting the Regional Forums... this is the Australian Cobra Club Forum...unless you have relevant info to add to the originator's question, why are you here if you are not in Oz?

Apologies to Ozvenom for the debris on your thread.

thanks
ron

Mr Puterworks,

I am sincerely sorry and so count me as taken deservingly to the wood shed. I did not even notice that this was from down under not that I know how that really matters. I just know this McDoo character / pot stirrer will take a cheap shot at anyone with a BB. I noticed that he had responded and when I looked at his remarks found that I was right yet again. We have a long standing somewhat tongue in cheek war going on that will probably end when the Arabs embrace Isreal and pigs fly.

Gary you dumbass........This is me you blockhead...I don't even know this other imposter McDoo but I think I have a handle on him. You need to stay away from the wine after a hard day at work. As you know, when I post stuff about BB's none of it is a cheap shot and I always back it up with the history of these fine cars and I can't help it if history doesn't back you up.

Jamo I hope you don't mind but I needed to put my little buddy back in order...

Talking Lmfao

well guys i see 2 Mc doo and Mc d00 very cleaver to use a zero
But it does cause confusion or was that the intention.
I love all things cobra aka Shelby unfortunatly we are not blessed with lots of bb cobras here in oz . I really love the sound of them . A forum is an expressive medium but you have to keep it on subject and not get personal you all know that .
I am greatfull for the HELPFULL infomation i have got from some of you and have enjoyed your expression session on the good and bad of FE engines . Every engine has its limits you have to respect that .It was a bad ass engine in its day and its still a bad ass engine today .
They were never meant to rev just make heaps of torque from CI if you want revs then its a small block . Modern engine design has allowed big blocks to be reved hard which has given the false perception that all of them will rev and thus we have failures which is then interpreted as a bad engine design.

I would love more than anything to have a big block cobra . but we are limited in what we can do and have so i have taken a different route which some of you will be dissused with i use an all alloy 242 ci lexus v8 turbo charged it makes bb torque and revs like a sb and with the right exhaust sounds very much like a bb.
Now don't start up again of why i am wrong it just what we have to do to keep up with $15 k + windsors .
A replacement engine cost me $750 and is as fresh as the day it rolled of the line. I have blown up a couple of them but i dont blame the engine i blame me for not tuning it right.
Thanks Again for you infomation and banter.
oz.

What the hell?! Is this some sort of a sick joke? I'm not going there, I'm going to keep this thread on topic. I can't believe I keep getting draggged into th is crap.

Gary, I have no idea who McDoo is, but I'm the real McD00. Ask me who picked up the tab in Deadwood? <-clue Ask me history on cobras and Carrol himself.
