Gregg, I have the ecu that can not be tuned, it was running fine in my car (just not adjustable), I could air bag it to you for using (I am sure the tune would not pass emissions though).
Do you have to get an emissions test done?
If you need it asap, call me on 0419800486 and I will get it on its way.

Hi Dave,
I believe my Engineer does a test where he sticks a probe up the exhaust pipe etc just to make sure the engine tune hasnt been fiddled with to muck up the emissions etc.
Thanks for the offer of the ECU. As you dont think it will pass emissions I wouldnt want to trouble you.
I am hoping to get a loan ECU tomorrow to try.
If not then I'll stick with my current ECU for Engineering ans ee how I go.
How's your engineering going by the way - I rmemeber you were having trouble getting a repsonse from the NT Engineer and were trying to do a "remote Eng" method.
Rgds

NT gov have approved the use of remote tester, I have employed Enkleman's to do this.
They have agreed to use a local agent for testing and inspections, so I do not need to take the car interstate.
NT gov have approved this aswell.
The NT gov have been very helpful and are willing to assist both myself and Enkleman's with all matters, even to the point of drafting paperwork for there inspection before final submission, so on the day there should be no hold ups.
I even have a Vin # already

Thats great news. Enkelmans are who I am using - they seem to be pretty good.
Good luck,

The comment by Rebel 1 about the manifold on the Ford looking like a church organ really hurt.

Thats alright Mando
Yours looks like the pipes at the top
Oh So does mine. Maybe people should just put
Wild manifolds on there engines.
Cause the standard LSx engine looks really neat too

Just realised, how are you going to go with testing when time for engineers?
Surely they will notice the intake is not standard?

Oh, when you said in an earlier post that it was not running yet, I assumed (wrongly) that it had not been through engineer.
But silly me forgot that you can always modify after rego.

Did you all hear the yeehaa!!
I have been having problems with throttle response and was getting a little frustrated.
I found the problem - you have to read my story to see what it was :-)
I was suspicious of my ECU tune and a kind fellow forum member suggested I try his spare ECU (it was a locked one).
I tried the other ECU and it seemed to be worse.
So I went back to the drawing board and I was always suspicious of my Fuel delivery and where I connected it in at the front of the car. Removed it and it it checked out ok. Tip no 1: Dont lie directly unde the car when disconnecting fuel hose - got fuel in my ear.
But..
When I put it back on I had a slight leak and had to re-tighten it. I then checked it for leaks and then I just happened to be underneath the car whilst the engine was idling and found that looking from underneath in relative low light one of the spark plugs on the passenger side near the firewall was sparking from the plug to the plug heat shield.
Aha I said.
This one is the one that is a very tight fit due to the headers and I thought I had it on properley but obviously not.
For a quick test I took the heat shiled off and went for a quick spin.
Bingo - car ran stacks better. Goes like stink now. Although the plug lead did come off partially during the test run and it started to miss again.
I then put the loan ECU back in and it made things a little worse so it looks like mine has a close enough tune at present.
I just need to figure out how to get this heat shield back on and ensure the plug lead stays on.
Easier to fix when you know what is causing the issue.
Anyway I am having a well earned beer and will get back to resolving this when the engine cools and I can get my hands in without burning them.
Rgds

Glad it sorted
I previously had problems with the standard leads aswell.
Because i have repositioned the coil packs i had custom leads
made by ICE they hold on realy well to the plugs and dont have the heat sheilds but i have had no probs with them.
Im sure there are other companies that make good leads for LSx engines

I had already put new leads on a while back - just didnt realise one of them wasnt going on properly.
This plug is really hard to get to and the header flange and pipe make it really tight. I ended up taking the header off to have a better look and foudn the insulation on the plug was buggered , so that wouldnt have helped much either.
This was the only plug I hadnt changed due to me not being able to get a socket on it properley.
Changed the plug and its a lot better now.
Still a bit of a lag here and there but not full on misfires etc.
Will be taking to a tuner for a tune soon. Kanga gave me some people to try out my side of town.
I wanted it registered first so I could drive the whole car there and not have to worry about trailering it.
Rgds
