Barry

You need to come to the meetings, as the club hasn't supported the run this year so it is up to individuals to get together.

Have fun and take lots of pics!! for us to view later.

Cheers

Steve

What was the reason that the club did not support the All Ford Day.

Please don't tell me to come to meetings to find out...

Bernie

There was far more support for the picnic at hanging rock event which I think clashed but even if it didn't, there just wasn't the group support to attend the Ford event.

So why can't you attend one of the meetings hey??

I'm sure you could afford the accomodation even if you didn't manage being put up some where overnight. Make the effort for one of the meetings Bernie.

Cheers

Steve

G'day Barry. Sorry I don't know much about the Ford event but I do know your neighbour Greg Briggs - say g'day next time you see him please and let him know my Cobra has an engine now. We've moved house and I'm yet to unpack my desktop PC so I don't have his email address handy.

I had a beer on Greg's balcony not long after he moved in - that's a very impressive view over the golf course!

Cheers

Paul

Baz,

Thanks I'll call you later.

The All Ford Day is a good outing and there is tons of parking for Cobras so you don't need a club display site. Perhaps meet up somewhere and drive into together.

Talk soon

Bernie

Slowy,

......

I would love to attend the meetings but the 'tyranny of distance' makes it a little difficult. I am after all over 6 hours away. So it is day away to get there.

However, the main barrier in getting to meetings is it often clashes with some volunteer work I do at one of the schools in the evening with disadvantaged kids.

Guess my priorities are wrong.

Just out of interest I have been to meetings.

In fact I have been to one or two more than some. You may not be aware that from day one George. V, Mike M. Rob B. myself and a few others met for the first time in a workshop and later at the Mercat Hotel for the very first meetings of the club.

For a number of reason members are not able to attend meetings. Some move to other States, others get involved in other marques or family reasons change. Not to mention the pressure of business.

Guess, I am just saying attendance at meetings is not an indicator that interest is not there. I am still an enthusiast and fortunately can afford to get to a number of both local and overseas events.

Be assured that I will get to meetings and club events when I am able. I will make sure I report to get my name crossed off the list..

Stay safe.

Bernie

Bernie & Baz

I trust you know me sufficiently to see when I'm just razzing and yes I know distance is your issue Bernie but I like many others I'm sure like to catch up with different people. It would be good to see one or other of you from time to time.

Hadn't realised you had golf committments Baz lucky sod but enjoy anyway.

As to the dates not conflicting, i was obviously snoozing at the last meeting but i'm right in saying the club has not sanctioned club support to attend this event and has focussed on the Picnic event instead.

That individual members may go, so be it, it was just advice as to a group decisions made I was passing on no more no less.

Cheerio

Default All Ford Day

Guys,

We are happy to support All Ford Day, it just wasn't a focal point for the club this year. The members chose to make Hanging Rock the focus for Feb. The calendar on the club website has the details.

http://www.cobracarclubvic.org.au/Co...0Calendar.html

If anyone wants to go down you can simply pay at the gate and enter as normal. Please note we do not have a spot booked as we needed to pre register and pay over a month ago to secure a club position on the grounds.

Cheers

Tony

stiffy

Missed you there.

I was surprised that there was only one Cobra in the show area.

The Melbourne guys had a small display of six of so cars in the general area.

One new GT40' there.

I was surprised that it appeared to be very down on previous events.

$20 a car may have put some off. It's ok, if you have a family in the big Galaxie, but is perhaps little high for the Street Rod guys on their own. There were very few rods there.

Not sure what general admission was, but a lot of lookers.

Hi Bernie,

There was a large group of Rodders and old American cars at Fountain Gate on the weekend. Looks like they may have boycotted the Ford day event for one of their own.
$20 bucks a car and having to pre pay for the Show area will scare off a lot of the smaller car clubs. IMHO.

It was $30 bucks if you didn't prepay. The cars make the show if they price people out of showing their cars then there is no show
cheers,
Bryan

Bryan,

I just spoke with some of the Street Rodders and they have lost interest in this event.

There is a level of arrogance from some of the organisers and a few rods turned away when they were asked for $30 each and went to Lorne for a cruise.

They were told.." if you don't like, it don't come in". Heard that the response was "...see you later"..

I'm not sure what the problem is with the All Ford Day and organisers. There seems to be some thinking that we Cobra and GT40 owners etc. need them to show our cars..

My thoughts - there was a lot of people there, but the standard, quality and interesting cars were not there.

The race car simulator guy indicated that it was more expensive for a trade site at the event than at a touring car round. So sounds like they are treating the traders and the show car owners rather harshly.

It is hard to understand why they charge $30 for a Cobra to go in the show area and we were charged $20 for the family car with four of us in it for parking and admission.

Any wonder we spent and hour in the public car park and along side roads looking at some of the best show cars I have ever seen. They had decided not to go into the show area......

Would I go next year? Probably not..

Bernie

Reptyl

Mmmm I got the impression tonight that the Street Rodders' that I spoke with would not head back as a club to the All Ford day next year.

Not sure.... but at this stage, I would say lets do the Picnic at Hanging Rock and forget the All Ford Day. My thinking may change by next year...

The variety at the Picnic and the comment..."thanks for supporting the Picnic" when I enter makes me feel valued. This appreciation really was lacking at the All Ford Day. I did not hear the All Ford Day organisers thank the car owners once for coming.

How different at the Picnic where they are constantly saying "....welcome, enjoy the day" and "..thanks for supporting us"..
