i just did a job this morning for a guy up at loganhome
he is registered to inspect and pass hotrods up here in southern qld

we had a big chat bout how sensible the rules are up here
and how fkt they are in nsw and how hard it is to get a national law scheme going
because the rta people in nsw wont back down and there are too many loud mouths
stuffing it up for everyone and the few who want to sit down and argue over the rules
sensibily dont get a chance to have their say so they have to have secret meetings
with only afew guys to make the decisions

guess i made the right decission to move up this way
the only downfall so far is i recon the gold coast is the crime capital of australia
as we have been broken into twice this year so we are moving again hehehehe

That was quick work by Vicroads Paul - well done and now enjoy the beastie in Melbourne's rapidly changing weather.

As usual I've lost a couple of weekends to get started on mine but told Marty the start of November sees me free Saturday mornings to get to his shed to kick off the long lost rebuild.

Cobras and sailing Saturdays and fishing and riding Sundays, all the food groups satified - life is tough!

Will be interesting to see what happens when VicRoads tries to register an ICV that is already registered on club plates. Could be a first?

Also what fees/duties apply? Transfer fees are negligible but is the car even being transferred?

What (if any) duties apply - new or second hand? I know what I prefer.

you'll need to pay stamp duty as it is considered a new car - take a build spreadsheet with you if you want to prove how much. Remember the more it adds up to the more you pay :-). plus rego and TAc fees as per normal and then a plate fee of around 50 bucks I think. I had my own personalised plates with me and they assigned them to the Cobra straight away. cheers Gregg

When I did mine in the NT, the MVR told me to put on club rego first (no stamp duty) then to put it on full rego later, and because it is already in my name, there would be no stamp duty applicable?
I just went straight to full rego as I did not want to "upset the apple cart"
But yours is already on club, so will be good to see or hear the outcome.

I just started the motor in the cobra I'm wiring the other day
And now it's gone to exhaust shop and owner is wondering what cats to n so it passes emissions as its a classic revival chassis and the vz commodore cats are huge

Hey Jim. Yeah VZ "footballs" to keep as close to factory as possible. They hang about 2 inches lower than the next lowest point on the car but they passed the smog test.

From the research I did, you want ceramic substrate (not metal) and 400 cells per inch.

A bit of news for Victorians who were thinking of going onto the club permit scheme prior to full registration. When you present your ICV to VicRoads they also require a current roadworthy certificate - reason being, the car was previously registered and the normal rules apply in that instance.

I said OK, I'll cancel the club permit and present it unregistered without RWC but they said the engine number is already in the system against the car, so they will know it was previously registered.

Getting another roadworthy isn't a problem but it's money that should be going towards beer at this stage in proceedings

I still had to supply a current roadworthy to have the car registered and did not have it under the club rego scheme previous to that.
Given that the car has had a brake test, emmissions test and thorough mechanical examination during engineering it did make me wonder too...

Paul I was told that the Engineers VASS Cert was "the Roadworthy". Oh well, I suppose its only one more step, but a pain in the you know what.

I had to get a RWC for mine too. The Engineers certificate alone wasn't enough for Vic Roads.
