Paul, that things looks fast standing still. Nice transformation. Why not wrap the whole car, then you can change your mind later on and you don't have to worry about stone chips. :-)

Hey are you heading up friday morning for Test and Tune? I think it starts at 10am.

I will probably head off around 8am going via Yarra Glen, Yea, Bonnie Doon etc.

Thanks Gregg. It's definitely an option to cover the whole car but I'd probably get a little more prep done on the body first (eg, top of guards aren't round). I'm happy to play around with stripes, rondels, etc for now. If anyone is interested in getting some vinyl stripes, drop me a line.

We're heading up late Friday morning, won't be on the track until Saturday. Figured that would be enough for my first outing.

Boxhead - not my Ferrari unfortunately! Beautiful example and fairly rare too, being a factory RHD.

Another nice Kenmer modification - relocated the handbrake from the side of the tunnel to the top/centre and replaced it with a Lokar unit. The gear shifter will eventually move forward with the Aussie Mike conversation that is planned for later in the year.



Also fitted some adjustable top arms. Now with 4-5 degrees caster, a lot more "give" in the front springs and a good alignment the car feels ready for some track work - just in time for Winton. Thanks to Marty Govett for all the hard work.

Well the Cobra really surprised me at Winton. Tons of grunt from the LS, plenty of stopping power and really good feel from the chassis - just the driver needs a bit of work! But overall very happy a couple of 1:49s during the last few runs. I can't wait to do it again.

The car has been up on blocks since Shelbyfest. I came back with a spongy brake pedal after running a little too much bias on the rear, probably boiled the fluid. I fitted some new rotors, the pads still have about 9-10mm so I'm leaving those but as a general rule do I need to completely flush the old fluid or just enough to clear the lines?

I plan on leaving my Winton no. 25 on for as long as possible

Hey Paul, Great effort on your first track outing with the Cobra.

I too have had the same problem with too much rear bias. Took me a while to get more into the fronts. It was explained to me once that we probably need better back brakes as our cars have near to 50:50 weight distribution and do not transfer much weight forward under braking and hence the rears do more work than in a road car.

How come you changed your rear Rotors?

How did the tyres fair?

Thanks mate. Got home in one piece with only a couple of spins, that was the main thing!

I have a bias valve on the rear line and it just needs to be closed a smidge. The crappy VZ front brakes barely got hot while the rears were so hot on the 4th run that a chunk of rubber left over from the V8 super cars lodged on top of a caliper and actually caught fire - no kidding either. Managed to blow it out easily enough.

I was still on the second hand rotors from the donor Skyline and they needed machining. I saw those 4000 series rotors on sale for $250 and snatched em up.

We moved into our dream home last week - acreage on the Mornington Peninsula with lots of native trees and more than a bit of lawn to look after.



I scored a man cave with hoist, TV, kitchen, toilet, shower and a few other goodies (still unpacking).





Plus a 1957 Massey Ferguson 35 which I have become attached to. It seems to have had a pretty easy life so I'm considering a full restoration if I can manage to go without its services for a while.



So in between fencing, slashing/mowing and setting the place up for my wife's horse pursuits, I hope to make a lot more progress on the Cobra next year.

We've come a long way from that pokey garage in the rental home that some of you may remember from 2007. What a journey.

The Massey 35 looks like a ripper. Looks to be in really good shape. I've spent a fair bit of time on my friends Massey 35. You wouldn't believe some of the places I've driven it in and out of on his property (I didn't believe it myself at the time) He has a farm on the side of Mt Tennerife which is pretty steep in places. Great tractor.

stripes look great I have a vinyl cutter of my own for doing the stuff on our race cars so im going to make my own and see how I go . looks like a nice place you have moved into and like mike ive spend a lot of hours on a massy 35 there a good old unit for sure .

And I think the Massey needs some vinyl now to match in with the cobra!

That's an awesome set up, and there is sooooooooo much that can be done there as well.

It just does not get much better, car on a hoist, do some work, sit on couch watch tv, grap beer, practice that trick shot (pool) to astoun our mates, back to hoist.

Man heaven.

I just noticed ..... The bar fridge is to small and also around the wrong way, and no upright alloy sheet tight bend pole (stripper pole).

Both the can b attended to in due course.
