Mando - Thanks for the kind words (which mean a lot coming from you), however mine is definately not show job. I reckon any kind of aluminium of stainless sheeting in the engine bay looks good, plus if I ever get sick of beige then I dont have to repaint the engine bay.
From that photo, it would appear they are caps and cut off the air intakes, but they are "booties" and have become pretty popular with people running Webers on the street. They have been used for a while by street rod builders and they are popping up more and more on Cobras. The engine runs great, no issues with the Webers gagging because of reduced air.
I used 0.7 Stainless with a Number 4 Polish. This means it looks good without reflecting things you dont want seen Ie. Top of foot boxes reflecting the underside of the fibreglass! Stainless doesn't mark or scratch or dull off like aluminium
