I hope its one of them non essential gauges like oil pressure or water temp Mando. 
Merv - I can put a pic up of the back of mine - it will make you feel a lot better. I was looking at it last night thinking of ripping it all out, but at the moment I know it works, so will do that at the first rebuild!
