Passenger Side Battery Placement

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone positioned the battery tray on the passenger side rather than on the driver's side. If so, are you happy with the placement and did you run into any difficulties due to the placement?

wish i had ! it is better done with body off ,then you can weld a plate under the battery just like the other side (only make it as big as the battery so you can bolt it down threw the plate).then all you have to do is move the gas filler tube to the front of the gas tank using the existing attachment hole (cut it out) and plug the rear hole with a plate ( use seal all,gas resistant sealer.works great bought at wall mart 2.00$)buy a rubber extention from a boat shop and viola !!!!!!!!!!! u got the best set up.probably under 40 bucks. well worth the time to do.more room in the trunk too.better weight dispersal also.Please do it and take pictures!i cant figure out why b and b doesnt do it.Just to save 20 bucks?????

inflecher has pictures on his website of the gas tank filer spout in the forward position. looks great

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at infletcher's web site. I currently have the body off so that we can weld in the motor mounts and a few other parts before sending the whole thing off for sandblasting and powder coating. Since I've been working on the gas tank anyway, I'll take some time to look at opening up the front hole for the filler tube.

Check clearances! I was attempting this and even with the fuel tube forward, the room for the battery is VERY Limited. I chose not to because of the extra small battery and box that it required. Also the access to the rear tail light was completely blocked by the battery tray. It looks good on paper, but seems to be harder to do in reality. I also thought of making a custom box that would mount over the rear end behind the passenger but after talking to an engineer (my dad) was informed that the weight shift would give only minimal benefits and unless I was racing the car, it would not be noticable.
Just my half nickel!
