Hello Everyone! Getting BDR....which engine?
Hello from Las Vegas! I am in the market for a new BDR. Beautiful cars. I hate to ask this question, as it is not my intent to start a "brand war," and as a member on many forums (jet related) I know these questions can always turn that way.
The engines I am "considering" are a Keith Craft, Cobra 427, and possibly a Rousch.
Recently however, I have seen a bit of negative feedback on the KN engines, and the Rousch seem to demand a premium.
Any and all input is appreciated.
Thanks for you help and feedback.

I know I am gonna get flamed here...Picked mine up last week...put a 5.0 in it....love it!.....still waiting for the rain to stop here to get some better photos....some bugs to work out...but dynoed at 419 at the tires....just my 2 cents...you cant go wrong with any motor ina BDR...good luck...Bill

Simple question. What do you want the car to do and what are you going to do with the car. Unil that is answered all other suggestions are advertisements.

Good / fair question. This will be a weekday driver for me. Unlike probably most, this will be my back-and forth to work car. With two little ones at home, this will sit most weekends. No tracks, racing, drag.
I just want awesome reliability, dependability, with decent horsepower, but not at the expense of reliability.
I am not a mechanic and I don't like to tinker. I want to start it, warm it up, and go. With the exception of an oil change and maybe some climate related carb adjustments, I would like it to be plug and play.
Maybe this engine doesn't exist, but if it does, you guys know about it!

The coyote ford is as good as it gets for a start up and go motor, and the engine only cost 7 grand.

Good answer. You might want to look at Ford racing #6007d or s model 392/430 I have had several cars with that engine. Absolutely great for your description. And unbeatable stop light to stop light should the urge strike. In talking with Reg remind him of my orange car with that engine, the Kit Car Magazine cover car. Greatest all round cobra I ever owned.

We price the complete install at 19k. There's a lot of other parts we have to fab and source to make the engine work. Not to mention he additional labor involved (nearly 3x compared to a carbed SBF).
The Ford Racing catalog has changed quite a bit in 5 years... No more 351 or 392. |

...have you considered the LS series engines? 
Just a thought..
LS7 in one of these would be worth considering & tough to beat.
Benefits include...
Small, light weight package (thus may reduce fabrication costs for install?).
Full alloy block, most parts forged, 6 bolt main caps, titanium rods, etc...
They produce stock out of the box about 500hp 470lb.ft. Rev to about 7K rpm get great millage & run on pump gas.
Like I said tough to beat... 
Of course you'd have to keep the bonnet closed if you ever went to a show for fear of being ridiculed... but as a daily driver... trophy hunting at shows is probably not really a consideration for you |

Can someone please compare Keith and Blykins.....not looking to hurt anyone's feelings. so feel free to PM me if you don't want to post publicly. Also, is there a "resale" difference?
Cashburn, 7k to 20k is a pretty big leap! I'm curious as to what the extra mods and fab work are that need to be done. Is the BDR not really Coyote ready?
