Hey Todd, Todd in Tampa... my #997 was built by Vintage. I just took delivery (2nd owner) and have waited almost 10 years to own one. All I can say is... it is worth it!

Your looks like a Beauty... keep the pics coming!

toddl 04-12-2013 03:14 PM

Thanks for the words. What did you think the first time you drove your new Cobra? Kinda hard to image actually being behind the wheel. I have driven lots of different kinds of cars but never a Cobra.

tpatodd 04-12-2013 05:49 PM

I had never driven one till I had my test drive. Wow.

All the senses are at work. Most importantly that little voice in the back of your head "hey, this thing can kill you". :)

toddl 04-12-2013 10:05 PM

Sounds like a rush. Can't wait to experience it first hand. Till then have to keep driving it in my head!!!!:)

Just listen to that the other day. Funny as hell. Kinda what you would think it would be like the first time you crank it up. Instead of pushing the gas with your foot just use your big toe till you get the feel for it:D

Since we are both in Arkansas and have red Backdraft Roadsters, we need to meet each other before it is too hot for me.

It looks like my car will be here towards the end of summer so may have to be going into late summer or early fall.

car looks awesome, my only question is. you said it was a back draft car but you had to wait for it to come over on a boat from south africa.so is it a superformace car that backdraft is building for you ? i am learning as well on here from what i read from post like you all have . i thought back draft was another company for the car as well?

toddl 05-27-2013 02:47 PM

Backdraft and Superformance are both built in South Africa.

roxx 05-27-2013 02:58 PM

ok i did not know or i missed it . that being said , are there any difference between the 2 cars? i have talked to a few people and some have said that different cars have different placement for steering wheel which makes it easier to get in and out of the car . i am trying to find people to let me sit in there cars to see which one fits me better. i am 6' 2" 280 lbs . i have not talked with any of the builders yet because i am sure they just want that sale .

toddl 05-27-2013 03:07 PM

Backdraft is suppose to be a better fit for larger guys. A little more interior room. I think the frame is about 2 inches longer than other replicas.

6t8stang 05-28-2013 07:51 AM

Roxx - I'm about identical in build and Backdraft was the best fit for me. Where are you located - that may help narrow down if someone is close by to you. Definitely do your homework as to the differences between different makes. Once you see many of them in person, you'll realize the benefits of one over the other in quality, features, price, etc.

Once you've educated yourself a little more, talk to Jay @ Vintage - he goes above and beyond before the sale (as well as after). Knowing some of the basic differences before talking to a dealer (or owner) will definitely make that conversation and decision easier.

6t8stang i am in drexel hill pa . i dont know how close you are but i would love to see yours if your close by ?i have been reading on here and web sites but can only get so much info on here . i am a better hands on type of person.i have talked with one guy that is close by and he has told me somethings about some of the cars . some have steering set lower then others ,some are a better ride (era) and true to cobra. or better yet call me if you want cell number is 610 368 1043 name is kirk .

itstock 06-01-2013 08:12 AM

Kirk,

I'm not far from you either and you're free to check out my Backdraft as well. Let me know when you want to see it and I can meet you right by either the Fort Washington TP or Willow Grove TP exits (so long as rain is not in the forecast, I can meet up whenever).

Steve
