Heat shield for brakes:
Hears how I did a heatsheild for the master cylinder on my car, I machine two clamps out of 6061 alu with a bore of 1.630 and clamp to the stering housing with 8-32 machine screws .then bent and cut 032 alum for shield . paint with heat paint, what a differance this sheild makes.see pics in my gallery. I can remove and install in less than 3 to 4 min . |

Just curious....the people that are having problems, what size engine are you running and do you have ceramic coated headers? I'm running a 302 with ceramic coated headers and haven't had a problem yet.
|
I'm running a 302 with ceramic coated headers also and after hard running for a while the master cyclinder is hot, The sheild should make the fluid last much longer.
|
Please count me in as well email address ( airvolts at AOL.com )
Thanks, Bryan |
Thunder1,
Does this shield also covers the clutch master cylinder? If so, please let me know what the price is for one of these shields? Thank you Joe mailto:joeac224@netscape.net |
Got 3 of them today. Very nice. We are sending them out for coating and will then install for some pics and additional info. Thanks.
|
How much are you selling them for? If we're interested in buying this setup what's the best way to go about it?
Thanks, Chris |
Group,
How exactly are you planning to finish them? Are you planning to put some heat shield material on the bottom of it? Or just paint and call it good? Thanks, Chris |
We are ceramic coating them for our cars.
|
If ceramic coated.....sure will be very effective!!!!

Just got mine from Ed. Installed easily, will have to wait for the next rainy stretch, pull it out, and get it painted or coated.
Good product Ed thank you! |
We are going to have to order some more. Plan is to make them standard on Vintage Motorsports Backdrafts. If Brian did not send off the check yet I'll have him up it for a couple more from Ed.
We have been making a number of changes to the standard BDR in our current run of builds. All under wraps though... http://www.vintage-motorsports.com/a.../adh.sized.jpg #340 has been taking longer than average for us, but as I explained to David we are creating a whole new standard here. And he has been extremely patient as well ... waiting for the best. |
At the rate everyone is contributing to improving these cars by chassis 500 BDR may very well be the best replica on the market if the Tony and the guys in South Africa incorporate into their designs. Please confirm that US licence plates lay flat on the rear trunk lid or do they still look like poop!!!

Cashburn,
Reg has a much simpler way of installing the Wilwood "puller" slave cylinder, you might ask him. |
