Plastick tank to stainless tank to aluminuim, how much weight savings is realized. In defense of BDR superformances have the same issues, but I agree with what they cost and risks involved the welds should be soaped with couple inches of water pressure. I would never put one of these tanks under more than inches of water pressure, you might very well have a grenade on your hands.

The stainless steel tank has to go about 30 - 40 lbs.... easy. Had mine out this winter to fix the sender unit and its heavy. Aluminum has to be at least half the weight. I would think they would be putting them under some type of pressure test for at least an hour or so with a gauge. That would find the leaks.
