Talking The engine is in!!

The engine is in. The engine mount probllems are behind us, and the drive shaft has been measured and installed. The car may go for its first drive tomorrow, with final electrical, wheel alinement, car setting, etc. to come in the next few days.

IF all goes well (I know, two weeks), I'll be bringing it home next week!!

Also started the California reg process today. In 3/4 hour, I was in and out of the DMV with a temporary registration (60 days) in my hand!! Ordered my licence plate last month--CSX4285--why not!!
I'm having problems posting recent pictures, but I'm working on it.

Mark,
Sounds like all is going well. Southern Automotive is still building my motor as we speak. I do have a question: What problems did you encounter installing your engine? I am getting ready to tackle that issue in a few weeks. I also have a CSX.

Thanks,
Shannon Fry

Default Engine install

My engine is being installed by XK's Unlimited in San Luis Obispo. They say that the biggest issue is engine mounts lining up with the engine. They got through that in the last couple of days. The next issue is making sure all the electrical works, then the alinement is true. From there, they drive the car, make adjustments to the suspension (this is given the engine dyno'd ok), and it should be ready!! That's the stage I'm in now. Today SHOULD have been the day that the car was on the road!! (I won't know until later when they e-mail me their daily update on progress).
So, this stage should last no longer than 2 weeks (again engine is dyno'd) and the car should be ready!!
My guys say I could pick up the car this Tuesday (BUT I haven't recieved todays update yet--something you should ask your builders to do).
This is a long way of saying that the whole process is longer than what people initially think.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Mark,
I will call XK to get some of the specifics. I should see you at the breakfast hopefully by the end of the year.

Shannon--

Good luck on YOUR build-up. The Shelby experience (hand built car is wonderful) is a little frustrating at times, but I think will be worth it! If you have questions, comments, etc, e-mail me.

Mark
