Just got dyno results...

I'll be back on the street pretty soon. @4300rpm, 550ft-lbs peak torque and @5300rpm, 505 peak HP.

505 HP? Isn't that for the Z06?

I hope she's back together soon. I'm looking forward to seeing you on the road.

It takes more the torque/horse power to keep up with Scooter...

Dave, did ya get those sticky Avons, so you can keep up in the corners?

BTW, congrats on what reads like a powerful, yet street friendly motor!

See ya soon,
Randy...

Dave, what were the cam specs on your engine ?

Mac VABCH 03-25-2009 07:03 PM

Is that chasis dyno or engine? Either way nice!!

4pipes 03-25-2009 07:16 PM

Scootter: You are police bait, I would never try to keep up with you.:D

Sparks: The cam is a special grind from T.O.E. Performance in Suisun City
(http://www.toeperf.com/)
It is a Crane flat tappet cam.

Randy: Staying with the Avids for one more year. I think I'll burn them off
this year.

Mac: Engine dyno.

RodKnock 03-25-2009 08:44 PM

Dave, I can't wait to check out your car. I hear you'll be going up to Thunderhill in June. i may join you fellas.

I bet your neighbors can't wait. :LOL::LOL:

What's the estimated completion date?

BTW - We'll still put Scott or you out on point to scout for the federales.

4pipes 03-25-2009 08:56 PM

Rodney, that's great. It's a small group and a lot fun. Too much track time!

tkb289 03-25-2009 09:02 PM

Dave,

Sounds awesome ... all that power and now the oil consumption should get back to an acceptable level. Aside from pistons and cam ... any other changes?

- Tim

4pipes 03-25-2009 09:34 PM

I didn't change the cam, only the pistons. I don't know why I gained about 12% in torque and horsepower.

tkb289 03-25-2009 09:43 PM

Maybe all of that oil was gumming up the works and slowing you down ?!?? ;)

csx wnab 03-25-2009 09:49 PM

more power

because you have a cylinder chamber that is sealed better. burning oil robs power from your fuel mixture. sealing it better makes more power because you are burning a more pure mix of air and fuel.
can't wait to see it dave congrats.**)

4pipes 03-25-2009 09:59 PM

That would be true, but I'm comparing the new dyno numbers to the original numbers from three and half years ago, when all bearings, rings, and seals were new. I'm not complaining.

gene giambona 03-25-2009 10:07 PM

Dave,
I volunteer to drive your Corvette to Alice's once your Cobra is back on the road.

Scott,
I plan to pass you during one of our next drives, but I still need to get my pilot license first!

csx wnab 03-25-2009 10:18 PM

not saying you were

but you were probably burning oil 3.5 years ago. no?%/

scootter 03-25-2009 10:22 PM

I think you guys are mistaking me for Mr.Hutchings with the loud a$$ pipes hooked to the ERA!!

Dave is always in front going to Alices! "LIVE BAIT"

Hope you guys get the cars out over the weekend. I'm headed to LA for the Nationals Cheer Comp for my senior daughter!!

Scott aka "Scootter"

4pipes 03-25-2009 10:25 PM

Nope. Didn't burn oil after the first rebuild. Over time, the weak skirts on the Ross racing pistons (light weight pistons) deflected under load, causing piston rocking when cold and the ring edges rounded and lost seal. This wear occurred over 7k miles.

csx wnab 03-25-2009 10:32 PM

i see said the blind man to his deaf dog as he picked up his hammer and chisle. no more light weight pistons for dave.
