Dave, did ya get those sticky Avons, so you can keep up in the corners? BTW, congrats on what reads like a powerful, yet street friendly motor! See ya soon, Randy... |
Dave, what were the cam specs on your engine ?
|
Is that chasis dyno or engine? Either way nice!!
|
Scootter: You are police bait, I would never try to keep up with you.:D
Sparks: The cam is a special grind from T.O.E. Performance in Suisun City (http://www.toeperf.com/) It is a Crane flat tappet cam. Randy: Staying with the Avids for one more year. I think I'll burn them off this year. Mac: Engine dyno. |
Dave, I can't wait to check out your car. I hear you'll be going up to Thunderhill in June. i may join you fellas.

What's the estimated completion date? BTW - We'll still put Scott or you out on point to scout for the federales. |
Rodney, that's great. It's a small group and a lot fun. Too much track time!
|
Dave,
Sounds awesome ... all that power and now the oil consumption should get back to an acceptable level. Aside from pistons and cam ... any other changes? - Tim |
I didn't change the cam, only the pistons. I don't know why I gained about 12% in torque and horsepower.
|
Maybe all of that oil was gumming up the works and slowing you down ?!?? ;)
|
more power

can't wait to see it dave congrats.**) |
That would be true, but I'm comparing the new dyno numbers to the original numbers from three and half years ago, when all bearings, rings, and seals were new. I'm not complaining.
|
Dave,
I volunteer to drive your Corvette to Alice's once your Cobra is back on the road. Scott, I plan to pass you during one of our next drives, but I still need to get my pilot license first! |
not saying you were

I think you guys are mistaking me for Mr.Hutchings with the loud a$$ pipes hooked to the ERA!!
Dave is always in front going to Alices! "LIVE BAIT" Hope you guys get the cars out over the weekend. I'm headed to LA for the Nationals Cheer Comp for my senior daughter!! Scott aka "Scootter" |
Nope. Didn't burn oil after the first rebuild. Over time, the weak skirts on the Ross racing pistons (light weight pistons) deflected under load, causing piston rocking when cold and the ring edges rounded and lost seal. This wear occurred over 7k miles.
|
i see said the blind man to his deaf dog as he picked up his hammer and chisle. no more light weight pistons for dave.
