As far as I can tell, it's not legal to put vintage (period correct) plates on a SPCNS vehicle. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if you walked into to a DMV office and they allowed it. The other variable, is if your title states that the car is a 1965 Cobra, then they may not question it all.
When I get around to doing a personalized plate, I might go for the Black/Yellow repros and take my chances with the Federales.
