I've used the HP1's and HP4's for years and never had a problem. I think the studies were of the other Fram oil filters, but I can't be certain about that.

At any rate, I think the Wix, Moroso or K&N would be just as good as the Ford filter.

Now, wait till you try to get a spanner wrench on the old filter to remove it.

And then the fun began.

It shouldn't be on that tight, but if someone else installed it you never know.

My remote filter is mounted so that the bottom of the filter almost rests on the frame rail, so a spanner won't slip on. I had to loosen the entire remote filter aparatus from the frame rail in order to get a wrench on the filter finally.

I do remember that there was one Fram filter that was decent. I also remember that the Wix did well. Don't remember the details on the others since I use the Motorcraft and it did well. Anyway, easy for Andrei to search and find the thread if he wants to know more about oil filters than he ever thought possible.....
