Default Two Questions

Hi, it looks like we have found our Cobra, but it is in Georgia. I will be flying to Georgia on Thursday, to check it out in person. I would like to know if anyone can recommend an enclosed trailer car transporting company, to bring the Cobra to Modesto. I would also like to know if anyone has registered a 1965 vehicle from out of state, in California. The FFR Cobra is registered in Georgia as a 1965. Does this mean the Cobra will be registered in California as a 1965 also? If so, would it be smog exempt? I would really appreciate anyone's suggestions and experiences with these issues. Thank you very much.
Chris

Forget how it was registered in Georgia. You need to register it based on the year it was actually built here. Get one of the 500 exemptions ("SB100" numbers) given out at the beginning of each year (gone by noon the first day) and you will not have to worry about smogging it...ever.

Check the Registration Forum for further info.

Stewart transport is constantly running several trucks across the US carrying Factory Fives. I bet you could work something out with them:

The 1965 title will not carry over to California. The great psychotic socialist beaucracy of Kaleefornia requires that you re-title your car as the actual year it was finished. If you have a block that is pre-1974, I believe, but could be wrong, that you can register it as a standard SPCN, but you'll have to go to the smog BAR station every two years so they can look to see if you have a pre-1974 block. It would be easier to re-title it using the SB100 process, but you'll have to wait until January to do so. All the allotted SB100 numbers are gone for the year. Do a search on SB100 here or on ffcobra.com for more info. I don't advise that you attempt to register it as a 1965, it will bite you in the butt.

I've used FedEx Transport for my last two. I don't think you'll save any money and get the required level of service.

Good luck!

There's enough info on SB100 on Club Cobra to make your head spin. Pour a cup of coffee or a drink and spend a few hours soaking it in .
