Nice job, is there a preferred die-cast maker for the Shelby 427 Cobra? I've seen all variants from real cheap to execellent detailed reproductions. I know they can cost a lot, but if the quality/workmanship is there I may consider doing the same thing.

Jim, It was the silver Yat Ming. I used it since they have jack plates instead of bumpers. I robbed a single four barrel with a turkey pan off of one of my eartl Cobra's since the yat ming's have dual 4 barrels.( Swappped them out) I painted the carpet black and moved the fire extinguisher from the tunnel to the panel inbetween the seats. I also painted the center of the wheels silver to match my polished trigos. I had some decal paper left and I made a license plate to match my 1965 TN plate. Mark

AL427, I have a very large collection of the Cobra's and really I like the Yat Ming the best for modifyng. ( Pretty cheap to buy) My son bought me a 1/18 Kyosho Cobra from amazon and it is probably the best detailed one made. They are around $ 100.00. Mark

Exoto is probably top of the line, at least it looks like it to me. The cost is extreme needless to say. Looked for a 427 Shelby Cobra and no luck, just the comp small blocks.

yeah, too bad they don't, wonder if it's because the racing history didn't meet some criteria.

I started with the Ertl 1/16th kit I was able to find on e-bay. It was a dream come true to build a model of my dream car and be able to go into the garage to look at the real thing for reference.
