Default You know what I hate? A pet peeve of mine?

Why?

Why have windshield wipers that don't sit parallel on the base of the Windshield? Most Cobra use the same system and "most" of them have the wipers pointing up at least 10 degrees when they are parked! Why?

Such as shown on one wiper here:

It IS a simple process to put the long arm in a vice and make the natural bend in the arm a little "steeper" allowing the arms to park as shown:

Here in Texas, you do have to have wipers...they can be manuely operated but you must have them in order to pass inspection. A windshield is optional though. Makes absolutely no sense...but thats the way its written.

I took mine off and put rubber caps on the posts.

Do any you guys use them? Or are glad they have them?

I don't want you to feel left out by thinking you live in the only state with wierd road laws. It's the same way here in Oregon. Windshield is optional but wipers are mandatory.

A friend of mine that has a toyota truck and he liked to take it off road. He rolled it one trip and it caved the roof in just a little bit, broke the windshield and broke off the wipers. It was still drivable though. He ended up kicking out the windshield. When the cops stopped him he got a ticket for no wipers.

Where can i find a -- let's say polished or stainless cap to put over the wiper boss and leave the wipers in the trunk? My windshield is Lexan and i don't want to put the wipers on cause you know someone will flip the switch then ask what is this switch for? Not so great for a dry windshield.

Default Wiper caps

Dean (RedBarchetta) went through this years ago as I did recently. I don't think there are 'nice' ones out there. What I found at speed shops were too blingy.
I found some on the Moon website and ordered them. What I got was a small scale model of Jane Russell's profile from the 50's. They were big and torpedo like. Good for boobs, not for wiper post caps (in my opinion). I ended up putting rubber caps on them. They fit snug and serve a purpose, but then again, I'm a minimalist.
BTW, the Moon caps weren't spun aluminum. They were chrome plated and made in China.
Good Luck.

It just wasn't installed right. You can set the angle of the parked wiper anywhere you want on the spline. Just pull it off and push it back on at a different angle.

Paul,
You must be using different type arms. Or your "posts" are located differently!
No offense meant but trust me, I'm in the know how the wipers mount on many, many different kits, Cobras and Streetrods.

Ed,

This is the only arrangement I've ever seen; a fine-pitched spline. I took my driver wiper off and rotated it counter-clockwise a couple of splines with the following result.

Fine pitched spline

Normal parked position on my car

Mis-adjusted parked position on my car by moving the arm counter-clockwise 2 or 3 splines.

Ahh-SO,
see the fitting that holds your "Wipers" to the Arms? Not the Splines. The wipers you have are MADE to change angles to fit just about any windshield, regardless of the fitment of the posts.

If you changed the splines by three or four splines, chances are you could loosen the screw holding the blades on and swivel the blades back into the proper position, then tighten the screw up again.

Look in the gallery of the guys that do have wipers, not many companies use your type of arms anymore. Like I said before, depends on your model, the type of arms, and of course the type of blades.

Yes indeed, mine has two adjustments. So your peev is that even if you re-adjust the arm via the spline, it still will be at an odd angle relative to the bottom of the windshield frame. Ok, now I understand.

Well then, roadster vendors are just using inferior wiper arms.

There is an aluminum cap to cover the posts that is very simple looking , I was going to go that route until I just realized I didn't need or like the look so I am filling the holes. I got them at a goodguys show for 8.00 bucks but if you search the internet you can find them ..autoloc, big A , ect WD
