I'll never understand the efforts to make a hard top look like a soft top with molded-in bow lines etc. It's just like the absolutely ridiculous vinyl roof craze in the 70's and 80's - make believe fake convertibles no less!
Blatantly "faux" stuff just doesn't go well with the purely functional aesthetic of a Cobra. Without the fake, angular bow lines and a more rounded profile, it would actually be a nice looking top.

I agree Buzz, never could understand that either. I'd go with a Mr. Bruce LeMans top any day. But then to each his own. Cheers My Friend, TommyRot.

I agree I like the Lemans tons better, and not a fan of the fake bow either. However it is a an option we didn't have, plus it's original to the car, and not half the country away. I doubt it that it shouldn't be too hard for him to modify to make three versions from his original. Original, bow less and Lemans, as he already has the correct dimensions.

Please call Robert Haugen for info on Sebring hard tops or fiberglass. He has been discussing this on the Austin Healey Sebring forums for years and finally made it happen

Edit: update Sebring info

Digging around about "Excalibur" cars, in another post interesting fact from them according to "Ohekk" here on CC. "Two were sold with the hard top option, and my "Last One" makes three." Wounder if that is where these moulds are from, or Classic?

These came from Ryan in Canada. They are the real moulds that came from Classic Roadsters. The top on the blue Cobra in photo was made in this mould. You can see on the letter I scribbled $3500 for 2 that’s what price was when I called in 1991.

Edit: moulds in Okla City now

Awesome. I guess this is who Ryan was referring to when I talked to him. Still waiting on a reply from him about some possible softtop options and i assume Roberts number (which I now have thanks to you).

I will give him a call when I get back (most likley will be over the weekend but will leave a message with him). Hopefully I can confirm costs and get one of these ordered. $1500 was right about at the maximum I would want to be at as I will be shipping internationally (unless you want to pick it up and haul it up for me as you mentioned you were road tripping around)?

Ill give him a shout tho. Thanks for getting the details and providing them to the community.

Sounds good. I will chat with him and see about his availability and shipping costs. Does anyone have a manual for the installation of the hardtop?

Thanks sunman.. I have been in touch with Robert. I have gone ahead and told him I will take one (not sure when he will get around to making it).. Also trying to figure out how I am going to get it but depends a lot on the boarder situation..

Does anyone have a manual or additional pictures showing the installation of the hardtop? Any additional items required? I'm assuming there is some install manual for the few hardtop ordered from Cr.. Robert doesn't have any of this info and hasn't seen a Cr in thr flesh to know exactly what is required..

Thanks

very interested too. I'd definitely be trying to rework the fiberglass to remove the bow lines though. I'd be willing to do a US run once the boarder opens up to bring a few back to Canada for anyone interested as well.

You should reach out to Robert and let him know your intent I told him as soon as he is able to that I would take one right away (he seems to be quite busy right now). I said i would either drive down or arrange transport.. If required (due to boarder situation) figure out shipping..

If you reach out maybe we can figure out a few for us Canucks and see what we can do. Where abouts are you located?
