Cobra427,
Wow, great looking car!!!I couldn't see entire dash. Is it the standard one or the custom dash? Either way,you really did a good job on the car.

DV,
Even the upolstery shop I've been using for years couldn't get the wrinkle out. It was right in the middle of cover. Looked like material had been laying around in a pile for years!!They even tried ironing it. I like the material they used cause it's thicker, and
looks more like leather.

Thanks for the compliment. The dash is styled after the custom one, but I didn't use the fiberglass dash that came with the kit. I used solid 1" thick walnut. It wraps around, like the custom, with some tweeters mounded in the wrap around part. I teach wood working at a high school so I had to have a wood dash. I have a CNC router and I used it to engrave under each switch
eg. "headlights" "wipers" "interior lights" etc.

I like older English sports cars too. That also helped in the wood dash decision but I do like walnut. I had two Sunbeam Alpines. A '63 and a '66. I would have liked to have had a Sunbeam Tiger, but they were $1000.00 more in those days. I was only earning $54.00 a week as a computer operator so I couldn't afford one.

Default Wow, nice dash.

Paul,
Are you making those dashes? Or would you be willing to tell a novice how to do this? I am guessing you used the classic dash as a template, then purchased a ?? by ?? sheet of walnut. What type of stains? Polyurethane? How many coats? how many sands and what grit? I would love to be able to create something like that. Or purchase it.
Thank You. I had just about given up on using a wood dash.

Troy

Post WooD Dash

Hey Guy's! I love the personal affect that people bring to these cars. I also went with a wood dash.."Cherry" to be exact...stained with Califoria Red wood. The dash is not completey finish yet..as I have some more wiring to do under the dash...but I like it. If you want to look, I have a picture of it in my gallery.
Snake/Gerry.
