The reason for the cutting is because we changed the floor pans on the front and rear seating area. We dropped the pans about 3" for better leg room. The problem is we haven't had the cockpit mold changed to match the new pans. We are in the process of doing this but we aren't done yet. After you cut out the bottom of the old seat pan fiberglass there is a gap between the frame and the portion of the vertical seat back area. This can be cut up the sides and pushed back to meet the frame. Then you will need to fiberglass in the vertical gap. Since it's not critical that the fiberglass meets the frame at the rear you could just add a piece of aluminum that goes from the base of the fiberglass to the frame.You would need to do that on the inside and outside so you don't get water splashing into the cockpit.
