DV, Thanks for the reply when you seem to be busiest. "Small gas leak=kinda pregnant?" Only if the car catches on fire . You caught if before anything happened so that's what matters. All of us who are sharing this build vicareously (sp?) will just have to wait for the pics. Hope you had a great 4th and got out of the garage long enough to see some fireworks.
Jim

As usual....he hasn't called me! I'll get him today!
DV
PS Lost a day and a half on the door openers! Unfortunately they will not work the way you, me or any female would want. Waaayyy to much pressure needed to open them! I can pull the cable with one finger and thumb, but add the prety button and it is a nightmare to open. Getting new handles today from our Buddy-made a "Corporate" decision on the new handles!

Chad,
Funny part is after all the derogatory remarks about those bycycle cables (stainless steel) the exspensive "Watkins" handles used the same cables! I picked up some "real" handles at our auto parts store and will make them work. I think you are going to like them.
By the way did you call Chris (Bakker) at the upholsterers? He called me and thinks Tuesday will be good. I have to call him Monday for a confirmnation.
DV
I'll take some pictures putting them in

Jim, nothing new for pics yet, fired up cpteddies today-first time in months, with his new start system and with the sidepipes on--- darnnnnnn-golly-geeeeeeeeeee!
Going for Carpet Tues or Weds. New handles for the doors in by Tuesday-I hope- will have pictures of those. Other than that, it is searching for bugs and doing final wiring connections; two start computers-one small tranny computer, three fuse boxes, etc.,etc., lighting systems-all the final stuff!
DV
PS Also found a small gas leak on one of the fittings tonight! 'SMALL' - is that like a little pregnant!?

Not much to look at, but this is cpteddies rear mounts for his seats. The angle I welded in is so his seat fits flush to the floor in front and the rear part of the seat is now flush.
DV
PS Left last night a little after 10P, just in time to watch the Boston Pops extravaganze!

Work
Hey DV,
Had some emergencies crop up at work this week. People out sick and network issues. All of that is keeping me busy this week and it doesn't look like I'm going to make it over to your place.
If the car is ready to go to Bakker's. Feel free to hook up the trailer and run it down there. As I said earlier. This weekend is already booked with the wife and I going to Chicagoland Speedway and I'm out of town next weekend.
Let me know what you think.

DV, I'm glad that you were able to take the time to see that. The Boston show is the best of them. (Sorry NYC and Wash.) There is so much energy and unabashed patriotism that it is just a fun thing to see. Sorry to see Capteddie get buried in work at this time. Capteddie, the one line never heard in heaven is; "Gee, I wish I had spent more time at the office."
Anyway keep on keepin on and thanks for the pics DV.
Jim

A little progress-toward the end!
87 individual rear wires, two computers, a "frontal" fuse box moved to the rear- all wiring run through the frame or tunnel. I'll post a picture of a cover when it's done that covers up the right side, exposing the fuse box, but covering up the battery section. Through the cover will be 'remote' battery hook ups in case.............

OK!!!! Whats all this stuff about something electrical arcing and melting the back half of the car?
See... Thats what happens when my wife reads a PM and relays the info to me with her own little spin on it
Glad to hear that everything is back working!!! Didn't get home from Chicagoland Speedway till a little after 1am Even though my guy (cousin Carl Edwards) didn't fare so well, it was nice to see a guy 50 years young run one hell of a race to take the checkered flag. Way to go Mark Martin!!!
I'll overnight the stamps to you tomorrow and you'll have them Tuesday.
I kinda don't want to ask... but whats the white spot in the last picture on the right side, by the bumper tube holes?

Your paint is so shinny that it is just a reflection.

Terry's right!
Well almost- actually another one of those days when the hole saw decided to take a jump
Thake a look at Ed's 'maxi fuse', looks good, no? NO!!!!!!
After hours of trying to find out why the entire car went electrically dead I finally decided as a last resort to check the 'Maxi'. It sure looked good, went back to the car again and still nothing, OK-battry out, main hot cables off, hooked the ol' continuity tester to the 'Max' (never- ever had one of these blow before!) Yep no continuity.....Ground the back off and lo- and behold there it was!!!!!!!!!
My best guess is when the motor started to crank-after firing once- it hi-cupped almost like it was going to backfire, then nothing.........
In my book when a MAXI blows which is first OR last in line, depending on how you look at it all the relays should have cooked and every fuse in the car should have blown first-obviously that train of thought was wrong. All circuits where checked, proving A-OK!
I did find the main feed terminal was ever so loose causing an arc!
After pulling the Maxi I did find a slight burn on the terminal and the link inside the Maxi was definatley burned and not blown apart like it would have been had there been a major short! Ahh, just another one of those days..........
That bright spot-----must have been a reflection!
However if you look at the little shiny spot across from the top hole you can see the reflection from my exhaust fan in the booth- a good 30 feet away!

cpteddie
Just so you get a confirmation, the dies, etc., did show up! Both letters and numbrs-nice set.. You might have to buy a bigger tool chest when you're all done! AND, if one is good is two better? Must be and thank you.
(Found the real reason why the 175 amp main fuse blew today.... finalizing under the dash, gas pedal is done and is , well we'll let you make the final call on that one! Short.... Actually it was a short and not arching as I at first thought....John moved the small fuse box that was under the dash (3-fuses) and ended up touching the hot/feed bolt against the choke cable when the dash was put back in!) That fuse box is now GONE!. Just the main box in the trunk now! Bettter this way anyway.
KLOTZ is praying we have your car until the 25th! They want it in their show! They even have a portable Dyno in case you and or George show with the Willy's Gonna be some noise in this town that day!
LOOK OUT HART/PENTWATER!

Im glad everything got there!!!
So this whole "short whatever thing" nothing got fried? Gauges all still working? Car starts?
Maybe John was trying to sabotage us Maybe that little truck of his isn't that fast after all
So... Next stop Bakkers? The car will probably still be at your place on the 25th. The wife has prior plans that Saturday, so I won't be stopping by that day If you want to take the car to the show, let me know and I'll overnight you the plates and registration.
Hey! Can you PM me the phone number from the bottom of that letter from the state? I'm going to call them and see if I can get some extra time to get their required paperwork back to them.

Nope-no fires, no damage, a little pride maybe So, you want a big piece of fiberglass and don't have one available, what do you do? Simple, glass two pieces of fiberglass together and finish them out.
OK, now what is the ol' fart up too? Remember a few entries earlier on this page? (Wires everywhere!?)
(I don't know why the "splatter trunk paint" looks so blotchy in the photo's? The entire trunk is a uniform dark gray with "splatter" through out!
Final, almost, trim pieces installed on the edges and around the fuse box, re-wired to get rid of a "added on" fuze box under the dash, and we have a complete built in fuse box and battery With remote hook ups for jump starting, or even to charge the battery incase someone forgets to turn off the master switch!
DV
Sort of a shame to hide that 'billett' battery holder and the pretty yellow 'Optima' battery- but safety is safety.
'We' are getting close! NEXT I'm finally getting to the new door handles!
