I agree about being concerned with a interior hood latch release failing and not being able to open the hood.
I added some insurance, in case the interior cable would fail.
I added a redundant, second, cable. I routed it to the passenger side front fender liner, at about 10 to 11 o'clock, as you face the wheel.
I used a braided cable terminated with a small ring. It cannot be seen unless you get down and look up under the fender.
Not my idea, but read it posted here by another person. Hope that I never have to use it.
