Boy, am I glad I found this site! I recently bought a Classic Roadsters Austin Healey. It's completely assembled - I'm the 3rd owner, 2nd since it's been drivable. I'm happy for the opportunity to compare notes with other Sebring owners, and the Cobra folks too.

First, welcome to Club Cobra.
There is a lot of information here that you might be able to transfer to your Sebring.

Try and post on the CRII forum here on CC. DV might be able to give you some direction on where to look or even be able to help a bit.

You also might want to try the CR Sebring Owners web site somone created on Yahoo a few years back. Looks like they are still active.

I built a Sebring MX in 1990. It was my first kit car and I loved it! Polished dark blue gel coat with a Mustang 5.0, T-5, 3.55 lsd. I ordered the regular hood and it looked great. Good luck with it and welcome!

I saw my car at a show, for sale, and had to have it. Right car, wrong time; but sometimes you have to have faith. Are all Sebrings MXs? I'm having a little trouble figuring out exactly what I have!

When I purchsed mine, there were three options:

1. Base Sebring with similar lines to the AH 3000.
2. Sebring with slightly flaired fenders.
3. Sebring MX with aggressively flaired fenders.

There were other mechanical differences. Mine had an 8.8, four link rear, but I think some of the others required a narrowed rear axle and may have used leaf springs. Not sure of the differences. I do remember that the steering column was from a Chevette and I managed to find a tilt column out of the Pontiac version (T1000?). The wipers were from a first generation VW bug, and the roll up windows from the same Chevette. I'll see if I can find some pictures. Good luck with it, I really enjoyed mine!

The original CR Healy replica was called the Saxon. Later they did the Cobra alternative which is the Sebring 5000. As said, it had small fender flares and is quite nice looking. Later, they did the Cobra killer called the Sebring MX (maybe even better looking), which for a while was the baddest of the replicars out there, and if I remember correctly was king of the Run-n-Guns of years past. Beat all the Cobras and even beat Chuck Beck in his 550 Spyder (he used to complain about that!). DV can probably shed some more light on this.

My brother has the Sebring 5000, and it is a nicely designed car. He has a warmed over 302 with Borg-Warner 4-speed... we drove it on milk crates 25-years ago

They don't seem to command a very high resale value for some reason... not sure why, as they are nice cars.
