Holy crap, 125k with no reserve? That's a freakin STEAL for that car. I'd buy it in a second if I had the dough.

Absolutely. I recall my conversation with David when they built that car. The copper alone cost close to double what I paid for my entire roller, if I recall correctly.

If I put that car on a pole on my roof, I'd have the coolest weather vane in my whole neighborhood.

Default Hmm

During the war(WW II that is), the penny was made in limited quantities in steel in an effort to keep the copper for battle.
Since we are at war(Iraq), is there a steel Cobra in our future?

But it has a stainless steel frame! WOW.

I'd have to hire a maid to come over to my garage once a week and polish the car!

Car has been on and off ebay a couple of times now. Will be interested if it really sells or gets pulled at the last moment.

Red face The pennies should be safe....

Since 1982, U.S. one-cent coins are 97.6% zinc and 2.4% copper for the
cladding. So to create a car body, you would need to find lots of pre-1982
coins to melt down unless you want to create a zinc body. The U.S. Mint did
consider using aluminum for one-cent coins and struck a fairly large quantity
of Lincoln one-centers around 1974. But the aluminum coins were ultimately
rejected and never released into circulation. A few, however, "escaped" from
the mint and are in private hands as collectables.

This car is truly destined for one place...someone's museum or private collection. The bodywork can only be truly repaired in two known places, Provo and Poland. Only the extremely wealthy that can afford to ship the car anywhere need apply for membership to this one-of-one fraternity. Personally, I think it would look better with a black roll-bar, and with a correct FE, toploader and black sidepipes it would have sold by now (IMHO). I'm certain the pictures do it no justice.

One question that I have is will the Kirkham's build another copper car?? If not, then this would be truley a 1 off car.

Who knows what the future will bring in regards to car values........I just wish I was a little richer and wiser in the mid-sixties. Having a crystal ball that worked would have helped too

David said that they were going to make 10 of these cars, as Kirkham Anniversary cars. However, that was before they got involved with other projects, so not sure if that is still planned. Most likely not.
