Default Team C Racing (CT)

Hi guys, I am new to this forum, and if this is in the wrong section, please move it for me. I am looking to start a project car, and I havent decided what yet, but a cobra replica is one I would like to do. A place near me sells both kits (TCR 427) and factory built ones (Venom 427). The kit is about 16 grand, and the factory built one is 28 grand without an engine or tranny. The kit needs to be assembled and needs engine, tranny, wheels, tires, shifter, linkage, driveshaft and paint. The main difference between the two is the suspension. The venom uses independant BMW fully adjustable suspension. The TCR uses mustang 2 style up front, and a 9" in the rear. You can see more at www.team-c-racing.com. I know the Venoms are built in South Africa, but I dont know the name of the company who builds them. I have a friend who works at Team C Racing, and he says the Venom has trouble with traction even with mildly built SBF's. But the independant is a really nice ride. Do you have of you have any experience with this BMW suspension set up? Any recommendations for more traction? I am worried that if I go with the independant and put too much HP into it, I wont be able to hook up. Thank you.

squatty d,

Venoms are manufactured by

BMW rear using high horse power? Sorry I can not comment on that question. I am only using a Ford crate at say 300 HP. Works super with it!

I believe the kits are from Shell Valley.

Actually, I think Shell Valley gets the same cars from the same place as Team C Racing does, Performance Cars. Anyone have any experience with these cars? Also, what kind of aftermarket parts are available for the rear diff? Gears, lockers, etc?

Thumbs up BMW Suspension

Squatty D:

I own a Backdraft Racing Cobra with the three series independent suspension with a 289 & 385 H.P. and this car handles like a true race car. Some of my friends have up to 550 H.P. on their Cobras and have draged raced them. The only problem I have noticed on the drag racing Cobras has been with the T-5 trannys, not tuff enough for this event.

To answer your second question you can order your car with different gear ratios or even M3 suspensions.

Good Luck with your choice,
Dualrollbars

I recently purchased a Venom 427 from Team-C-racing. (7-1-03)If you want any questions answered e-mail me at
JOEPASSION@aol.com I have a friend who has built over 2 dozen 56-57 T-Birds, a 67 GT500 and other Shelby mustangs as well as other cars and has completely checked out this car. It may not be an ERA, but then, as he mentiopned to me> IT did not cost over
50 thousand, doesn't over heat, is driver friendly and can be easily repaired as the engine is a 351w with room to spare and is not a mix match of used parts. All new BMW running gear.
It has approx 320hp, which for me is more than enough power.
A set of alluminum heads would add another 75 hp or so.
As the guy at DMV said, it was one the best built Cobras he has seen. I do agree if you want a 450hp engine you may need a different rear end. So far I love mine Joe
